This is just a rumor...take it how you like it...I'd do it in a heartbeat; though Big Ben does take up a lot of cap space

Smith's reasoning was sound, although he acknowledged it was not based on anything he has heard from the Bulls, Lakers or any other league sources

Oh okay , so he just came up with this idea .

I wouldn't do it. If you play 32 min and only manage a 12.5 EFF, well, you never deserved to play that many minutes in the first place.

Yeah, it comes off the books in two years. Bynum and Wallace in the post, Odom at the three, Kobe, Fish. I like the idea. Wallace does what Kwame does, only better. He's just as much a liability offensively but he doesn't have to score when Bynum is in there. Odom is better at the 4 but when you put Bynum, Wallace, and Odom on the floor at the same time, I can't imagine we'll be giving up too many offensive rebounds.

Vlad Rad hasn't been contributing anyway with the exception of a few games here and there. He's expendable, we have plenty of shooters. I think Ben ratchets up his game now that he's on a contender. It's a win-win for both teams. I'm about 60% sold on it.

pretty expensive for a backup center. Once bynum comes back, Wallace will be on the bench.

 it is not even a rumor, just a good trade suggestion by a jornalist worthy of its own thread at realgm-forums-Lakers.com

I would consider this if Odom and Wallace were both coming off the books at the same time. That would be a nice chunk of change to play with. But they're not, so I fail to see any benefit to this move.

I'd much rather delude myself with the pipe dream that Brand, coming off a career-threatening injury, will opt out and sign with us for the mid-level.

check this out guys

webber, nelson to reunite?

http://www.hoopshype.com/rumors.htm

Word on the street says Golden State Warriors coach Don Nelson has been seen at Chris Webber's Natomas restaurant, Center Court with C-Webb, twice recently. That only could mean Webber and Nelson are considering the completion of the ultimate full circle and a Webber return to Golden State.

They beefed big-time 14 years ago while both were with the Warriors, but perhaps it is true that time heals all wounds, even gashes.

Stay tuned. With agent Aaron Goodwin representing Gary Payton as well as Webber, could the former Skyline High School (Oakland) guard be far behind? Baron Davis, one of the league's best point guards, needs rest, and Payton surely could fill that backup role.

I say do it. This guy is still a monster of a defender and rebounder whos in pretty good shape. He can play the same role Rodman did for Phil in Chicago. Rodman was 34 by the way when he came to the Bulls, Wallace is 33. I know he hasnt played too great this year but I think that Wallace doesnt fit the Bulls system, especially now that the system changed with Skiles being fired and the new coach bringing a new offense/defense.

I would only do it if we can also swap Radman/Mihm for Nocioni... we would be left with:

Fisher/Farmar
Kobe/Sasha/Ariza
Luke/Nocioni/Ariza
Wallace/Turiaf
Bynum/Kwame

1) Our defense would be stellar... Wallace and Bynum would average at least 22 rebounds and 4 blocks

2) Our 2nd Unit would easily be the best in the league: Nocioni, Farmar and Turiaf off the bench???

3) I disagree that Wallace and Bynum couldnt co-exist... Its not like Wallace fills the paint by posting up a lot... When he catches the ball he passes it right back out unless he has a layup or dunk... He would be our Rodman

ben wallace would be a disaster next to bynum. paying him that much money for so long to strictly backup bynum is idiotic.

uhm.. he wouldnt be backing up Bynum, he would be starting at the 4... and if anything he would take pressure off Bynum defensively as he would guard the opposing teams best post player
