JVG was somewhat out of control. He was trying to be funny and controvertial and was saying some outragous things.
The way he presented himself, it was hard to take anything he said seriously, much like Bill walton

He praised Kobe plenty, saying he was by far the best player in the league. They all were drooling over Lebron's freight training.

I don't agree with this, if anything JVG was praising Kobe while Bill Walton was HATING Kobe.

JVG and Mark Jackson make the game fun to watch with their funny commentating such as the "ever think about using a small razor blade to cut someone to stop a play" :) In response to a question JVG says "that's what you think about after a loss when you cannot sleep at night"

or Mark Jackson on a steal and Dunk by Luke: "Somebody call 911 cause Luke just ROBBED Lebron"

I love Jeff Van Gundy. I think ESPN struck gold with him as a commentator. He says a lot of things I'd like to say on the air...and as far as JVG talkin smack...he says just as much good stuff to balance it out. I'd say he's a pretty fair dude. "verbal flop" ahah.

Van Gundy is one of the best analysts though, so I'll let him slide on this one.

Van Gundy is awesome, comparing him to Walton is such an insult.

I don't know about the razor blade thing, he obviously meant it as a joke but it really didn't come across all that funny. It was actually pretty creepy and awkward.

Van Gundy reminds me of the guy who somehow hears about a party and causes everybody to go home early. Who invited him?

The best color commentators are Ernie, Barkley, Kenny, and it's a shame TNT doesn't have them do more games.

Ernie is fair, balanced, and informed, Kenny is the stuttering guy who usually has good points, and Barkley will be crazy but funny.

I didn't hear any hate for Van Gundy earlier in the season when he stated that it's a shame Kobe hasn't won the MVP yet because he's been the best player in the league for a good while.

Gundy is one of the best commentators around IMO.

van gundy is hilarious. he just doesn't do the praise like homers do.

that game a few week ago when kobe went on a scoring tear, i think when bynum was still healthy, he commented on how even though it was imressive, it took players out of the game...and it was true. i remember laker fans on this site agreeing with him.

i think the lakers lost the one too.

I mean Gundy's commentating is hilarious and all but sometimes he does go out of control.

Bill Walton on the other hand...

No not at all. He compliments Kobe when I watch him. He is great as an analysts.

Sedale Threatt what is the Lakers record without AB so far? How stupid would you feel if they did go 8-20. I really think it will be 12-20. You can put that in your sig.
