Isn't Kevin Ding the best source of behind-the-scenes information about the Lakers?
What a great article, and it did change my view a bit. I wasn't aware how close this team was, I thought it was mostly lip service from Kobe about brotherhood and all that crap.
I think it shows his integrity and courage as a journalist to be willing to make these kinds of comments about players he sees so often:

Kwame's contract is a trading chip and if you would rather have Kwame as your backup then a real player you can get for his contract you are nuts.

Kwame would be have to packaged with Lamar to get someone significant. Im for it depending on who they can get. But I dont see Mitch doing that.

He still tries and plays good D. I just don't think the stars ever aligned for him on offense.

I'm still baffled by where his shot went. At one time he was shooting jumpers and scoring 20-30 for washington on some occasions.

Could've told you this from 6 years ago when he said he didn't want to known as the #1 pick, just "one of the guys, Kwame who works hard"

Whens the last time he was supposed to "unleash the beast"? Right off the bat when he came to LA and proceeded to suck far worse than he has this season. But hey, if he doesn't mind not being able to even get the MLE next season thats on him. Maybe he'll take the vet min if it means staying in LA.

I think his problem in LA has been injuries more than anything..and the rise of bynum too..causing kwame not to get the minutes even when healthy.

It went when he started to gain weight on his lower body...he lost the lift he needed to shoot short jumpers... and free throws its just confidence issues.
In addition, he doesn't play a position in LA that makes jumpers available to him often.
In the game before last night I believe he had a free throw line jumper that went in.

but the usual two-pronged adapter of coaching and experience can work only if a guy actually wants to be plugged in.
Brown doesn't want it. As shameful as that is, let's hold on for a second and look at it another way.

it's been obvious for years that Kwame never had love for the game...especially when you show no improvement in any area of your game...
this is what i originally thought of Bynum last year when he was constantly acting like he didn't care at all what was happening, but this year proved that to be all wrong...

Now, how can this be when they could be getting so much more from him (or getting Caron Butler's 21.9 points, 7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.4 steals instead)?[/b]
