Farmar or Fisher?
I don't start too many threads, but after discussing the point with miles it seems like a good question to ask:
Should Farmar take the starting job and the lion's share of the minutes over Fisher?
Fisher is and was always a great leader, but we get stagnate sometimes with him in.
On top of that, isn't this the only way we can know if Farmar is worth keeping or trading for Jason Kidd?
Right now, we're trying to speculate on 20 minutes of play with the reserves, if the 21 year old point guard is worth offering or retaining in a trade for the greatest PG in the last 15 years.
Imo, we should give him the starting job with 30+ minutes and see what we're really working with so we know if its worth giving him up for 2 or 3 years of Kidd.

tough question.. it's hard to deal away any homegrown talent such as farmar.. sure championships are the ultimate goal but it is the path there which yields the true glory.. my heart says keep farmar but my brain says get kidd he's a proven champ.
i think really the question should be taken in a larger context such as what is our system of playing basketball and how well does kidd fit as a piece to a laker championship

I'm pretty sure in the pre-game tonight they talked about how Farmar averages more minutes in the 4th than anyone, IIRC.
I think that means he's already seen as the clear choice in a Farmar or Fisher debate.
The way I see it, they're just slowly brining him along for him to eventually take the team's reigns. I think though that he doesn't just need more minutes but more responsibility within the offense. But over the last few games I feel that's already begun. Also tonight's 9 assists showed he can do more than just shoot.
As long as D-Fish is playing relatively well, I say keep Farmar at the steady pace they're taking him. They're probably just making sure he doesn't hit a wall before the playoffs.
That's when I see him really taking over. I think Phil's doing a good job bringing him along.

Farmar Vs The Big Tuna
Do we really need to go into this? Trust me there will be some games when Farmar dose well and more games when Fish dose well. Currently I think we should adjust to whatever team we are playing and not get into the whole who should start and who should not start. In this pro game its all about match up's and the differance between Phil and other Coaches he finds a way to give teams match up problems. So I guess to answer your question on who should start. I think it all depends on who we are playing.

That's a good solution.
I like having Fisher out there to start the game. His leadership helps to maintain that there's not a meltdown early in the game. He can control the other guys on the floor. Provide a calming influence.
I agree 100%

We don't have the luxury of bringing Farmar along slowly. Games are won and lost on very small differentials in this league(well, at least for the time with Bynum out). You saw what happened against the Cavs.
On average, a differential of 2 points is worth about 5 games for the season. If Farmar is worth 2 points over Fish, then we could be losing as much as 2 games in this stretch by not starting Farmar.

Well, so much for finding out if Farmar is worth trading for Kidd or not:
PER WIRETAP:
The Lakers are not going to pursue Jason Kidd

Maybe its for the best...Thorn's price always seemed so steep in any Lakers conversations.
