I haven't had time to read it yet, but I've always thought Pau was perfect for the Tri. High post, low post, mid-wing, back to the basket, face up, Pau can do it all and has a plethora of moves, and he's an excellent passer too, with good recognition and being very adept at dealing with double teams.

On a more elemental level, Pau can catch and finish too, with the best of them, so Lamar and Kobe are already probably licking their lips imagining their assists going up along with wins.
I could see both Kobe and Lamar raising up their assist level to Bron territory, also putting some added punch into Kobe's campaign for MVP.

Gasol's passing ability and basketball IQ is what really separates him from practically any PF the Lakers could have gotten, and why in all likelihood he'll fit in seamlessly with this team, increasing their half court set execution exponentially. His apg average, for those wondering, is an impressive 3.1 for his career and 3.9 for the last 3 seasons since his breakout 20ppg/9rpg/4.6apg/1.9bpg/50%FGP All Star season. His mid-range J is also critical, as it forces his man to play closer to him, allowing better lanes for cutters as well as the opportunity for him to create his own O off the dribble. Really, there is no reason he can't be at least as good as Malone was 4 years ago at tri execution, if not considerably better. And if anyone remembers Malone's 03-04 season, when he was healthy, it was beautiful to watch him operate from the pinch post. He knew exactly integrated himself perfectly despite playing one style of basketball with one coach for 18 years prior to that season.

geez this is going to be a beautiful thing once Pau gets the offense (hopefully not long since he has a supposed high BBall IQ) and get Bynum back from injury.
I dont' think Phil had a team this stacked in talent (starting and bench) before in LA or Chicago in terms of player personnel. too bad injury bug had to bite. (well maybe a good thing since the bynum injury forced lakers to consider this trade)

add that to key bench players like farmar/sasha and turiaf's improving jumper and its a very nice mix.

Great read.
This has me even more excited. Next season, I don't see how we win less than 60 games with this assembly of players, assuming they stay relatively healthy.

I wouldn't rule out 60 wins this season, 30-6 the rest of the way, depending how quickly Pau gets acclimated.
Kobe is playing awesome, we just schooled Toronto without Bynum and Pau, and we should have won @Detroit too, who just slaughtered Dallas there.
Still, I'm much less worried about what our record ends up being, because we are going to be deadly once Pau is integrated and Drew returns, and we will fear no squad, home or away.

He fits absolutely perfect in the triangle offense. If we would have had Gasol this whole season we wouldn't of had to pay Phil 24 million to sign. This is by far the most talented team he has ever had.
This team can not only compare with the Bulls and Lakers of yesteryear but there like a combo of both combined.

The last time we saw a player anything like Gasol at the PF/C position in the triangle was another European, Toni Kukoc, and we all know how that worked out.
The guy lost credibility the moment I read that line.
He could have just said, "Well, Kukoc and Gasol both have 2 eyes, 2 ears, and a nose. They're the same player."
Either he's never seen Kukoc play or he's never seen Gasol play. Their styles aren't anywhere near similar. Gasol simply does not have the same vision that Kukoc had.
I know a lot of people want the Lakers to succeed, so they'll blindly believe that Gasol is guaranteed to be a fit in the offense. I refuse to do that.
