Taking other teams best shot...

Post#1 » by Chubby Chaser » Thu Feb 7, 2008 4:52 am

With the acquisition of Pau, the Lakers are again the team to beat in the west. That coupled with the media attention that comes along with laker games, we are going to take every teams best shot. Scrub teams are going to come with their A-game against us and we have to be prepared for that. It hasn't been like that since shaq left in '04, so this unit is going to have to gain that killer instinct and put the game away early and out of reach. Give it time, I'm confident they'll figure it out.

Did you look at the game against the Hawks ? Everybody bring their A game to us thats never changed. Its so draining they always lose the next night.

It's true.

Lakers are the top road draw. Kobe hears MVP chants in other arenas. I just heard it VERY loudly in Jersey and in Atlanta. That's just crazy. Especially considering his game has been dogcrap.

When you're the team that's playing at home, but a heavy portion of the crowd is cheering for the Lakers, and is chanting "MVP" for Kobe, I'm guessing that won't sit well with you. It'll probably get you fired up.

Their's so much hype about the Laks right now. Teams are gonna bring their A game and play their hearts out against us. Kind of like the Shaq and Kobe era, everybody wants a piece of us and when they win, they celebrated like they won the lottory.

I agree teams are gunning for you guys.

Congrats on the trade, Your team is flat-out nasty. I really cant think of any weakness your team has. You have one superstar. Two all-star caliber players in their prime in odom and Gasol. An up and coming player in Bynum. Superb role players ( i think the best in the league) in Farmar, Fisher, Walton, Turiaf, Vujacic. Hell even Radmonivich is decent.

Great thing about your team, almost all the players are great all-around and are very smart. However I think its gonna take a year to really put it all together and the spurs might still be the team to beat believe it or not.

Coming from a knick fan i am totally jealous of your managment's competence.

^ Lol Thank's popeye .. you know of all the teams in the NBA i think the Knicks are Due .. they have Loyal fans and still sell seats even when they been crap the past couple of years ..

Just stay faithful to your Knicks and it will make it that much sweeter when they make it to the top again because you will be able to say you were a fan even through the tough times .. not just a bandwagon fan

On the subject yes it is true we will bring out everybody's A game .. but i think we used to bring most peoples A games even before the Gasol trade ... teams used to love the opportunity to play against Kobe and try and shut him down ..

Now it just makes teams wanna beat us THAT much more ... No doubt once Gasol gets more time under the triangle and we get healthy we will be better equiped to beat these lousy teams that bring they're all

This is a good point. Aside from kobe and fish nobody on the team is used to this type of scenerio. We have to be prepared for every game as if it is our last. That is a trait of a championship team. We will still lose a few but regardless the effort has to be there every night.

I still think once Pau get acclimated and we add two of our best defenders in bynum and ariza that we will be a force. The fact that Kobe is hurting now gives others a chance to step up and we will need that later.

It's been three years since you went to the playoffs and 7 since you won 40+ games. And you've had to suffer through Isiah Thomas, the Larry Brown fiasco, Isiah Thomas, Eddy Cu- right, Isiah Thomas...

You guys definitely deserve some respite from your situation.

Teams bringing their A game against the Lakers has been a staple since the 80s.

Teams love to beat LA and love to play their hardest against them. It's the reason why the Lakers have had so much playoff success.

Yup. I remember when we had the Malone-GP Laker team, when the Rockets beat us in 2 OT the fans were jumping out of their seats like they just won the NBA Finals.. lol

I was wondering the same thing...was it the 2 times at full strength that we won or the 1 time missing our center where we barely lost?

I think it may be longer than that. Lakers were winning championships in the 40's

The game wouldn't have been close enough for the Hawks to come back if Phil didn't sit the starters so much in the 2nd & 3rd.
