Chris Mihm to have Surgey/Out 4-6 Weeks

Post#1 » by slickgreek » Tue Feb 12, 2008 4:18 pm

Los Angeles Lakers center Chris Mihm, who hasn't played since Dec. 23 because of various foot ailments, will undergo surgery on his right heel and miss approximately four to six weeks.

Both the team and Mihm believed surgery was the best option and hope he'll be able to return at some point this season as a backup. It's expected that the surgery will be performed sometime this week, The Los Angeles Times reported.

Grant Hill =)
Jk....

This isn't really depressing News, it's not like he's made a significant impact this Season to our success.

Our Center rotation looks like this when Bynum gets back

Bynum/Gasol/Mbenga/Turiaf

Pf rotation
Gasol/Turiaf/Odom/Radman

We already got Gasol n Bynum backing eachother at the Center, and really IMO Chris Mihm has just been a defensive liability this season.
He's too slow getting back, isn't contributing in offense like in his 1 good season with us, and he just isn't a defensive threat down low. Again not a huge loss...

So how many surguries has this guy have over the past 2-3 years again? Everytime he is projected to be back something else will comeup. Just watch after 4-6 weeks the team will announce that he will miss the rest of the season. I feel bad for the guy but this is getting ridiculous. Just buy him out of his contract already, doubtful he will ever return as a contributor on a consistent basis.

I have no confidence in the guy anymore.

Mihm is like a car that has been to the mechanic too many times that it is a lost cause and just send to the junk yard.

Trade Sasha before he ruins the Lakers next season.

miss 3 years in a row and I think you are basically done. Grant Hill was a super star that was humbled by injury... Mihm would come back as a scrub if he's lucky enough to come back.

I'm over waiting for him to get healthy, we don't need his offense and his defense isn't worth much. Might as well hope DJ gets a little better or we strike "3rd string big" gold in the offseason.

Feel bad for the guy, but as a laker fan i'm not too worried about it. To be honest, I don't even consider this guy on our team anymore. It's been three years now.

I say the Lakers should try to trade or cut him in the offseason, assuming he picks up his player option.

Can't do much but feel bad for the dude. He was starting caliber on most NBA teams before he went down and I respect him because his injury came while playing for the Lakers rather than while bike riding or snow boarding.

G/L man, hope you get back at some point in time.

Mihm needs to go, it sucks too as next season, no doubt he will pick up his option, unless we make him a scout and pay him nearly the same money.

I'm guessing that's why other teams didn't sign him when he was a FA this summer. He was supposed to be fully healthy according to his agent, but now we know that was a little too sunny. On the plus side, Mihm gets paid to rehab. I wonder if the surgery is paid for as well.

Hey, if he could come back reasonably healthy for the playoffs, and be a decent backup center, that'd be worth 2.5 million.

That's a better deal than they had with Kwame.
