If Devon George becomes available do Lakers pick him up?

Post#1 » by lakeshow248 » Wed Feb 13, 2008 9:24 pm

For what it's worth I think NJ rapped the Mavs' the got so much for the future in Devin Harris and 2 1st rd picks and a lot of salary dump for nxt yrs.

I think their team could make the playoffs this year now and do better than w/ Kidd.

And how the Mav's lose Stackhouse maybe their most clutch shooter, a fine pg w/ tons of speed and then they also lose D Diop who maybe the key factor in guarding say a Shaq, Bynum, Duncan is beyond me....

Sorry about the rant but my point is that NJ will now have 16 men on their roster w/ the addition of Ager, Harris, Stackhouse, Diop, D George. They will likely dump George I would think. So, do the Lakers pickup Deveon for a little defence on the wing, while Trevor is out for an undertermined amount of time.....they would prob get him for the min if he is indeed waived....For me it's a no brainer, I think he is a perfect cheap fit that could handle some defensive stints vs. say a Paul Pierce, Grant Hill, Stephen Jackson, Josh Howard.... I just think the Lakers' have one more spot that they can fill and it should be on the defensive side of the ball.....

And for everybody who says we got to many SFs well he can play the two as well.....

I was wondering the same thing.

We're stacked at the SF spot, so if Ariza is due back soon I don't think George is a necessary pick up.

I don't think he has the foot speed to keep up with any 2's in the league. Especially with most teams going with two small guards in their lineups.

I would be much more interested in Stackhouse, Agger and Diop than George. George is a very overrated role player in that he can't guard star players and has very limited shooting ability. He shoots when he is open but rarely makes them. Luke Walton is a better player than George. Dallas can have him back if they want to because having him guarding Kobe would be hilarious to watch. Kobe will destroy him every time they play.

Lakers have too many players... they don't need George . If anything, they would need to get rid of players before adding more, unless it's a bonafide upgrade at a weak position (which lakers don't really have)

Do not do it Mitch.

I give credit to the full team roster.

If Bynum comes back this season, as expected, we're gonna have to find minutes for Odom, Walton and Radman at 3 spot, even if Ariza doesn't return (though again, why wouldn't he?), not to mention Kobe spending some PT there. Honestly, don't you have better ideas?

Me not necessarily: he's still a chucker, despite taking much fewer attempts than in his "glory" days.

He can't be worse than Luke Walton right now, and he'd come much cheaper. Dump Luke first, though.

I'd try it if Stackhouse didn't want to come here. Stack would be great backing up Kobe.

Please remember chemistry of our young team is still fragile, especially after personnel changes, and Luke, whatever you say about his slump, is still our glue-guy and positive influence in locker-room. I wouldn't exchange it for volatile Stack - remember his disqualification after hard foul on Shaq during 2006 Finals that costed the Mavs dearly? While if you were talking about Devean - he's clearly inferior as a player to Luke now, so I don't see a point in this.

When it comes to recurring injuries and disappearing for long stretches, DG is the black Chris Mihm.

NO NO and NO to DG...

Luke may be Puke right now, but DG will ALWAYS be Gump.

Only if Ariza isn't expected to be back soon, then I wouldn't mind seeing George back.

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
