You know as irratating as it gets sometimes hearing people actually say LeBron is better than Kobe .. LeBron sure does seem to give Kobe props .. i salute him for recognizing Kobe as the best in the game

I just hope he really isn't trying to look like a media darling and get more votes by saying he has no chance vs Kobe which could be what his agenda really is ...

I think what he is saying in a very diplomatic way is that he is better than Kobe, but the powers that be will give it to Kobe first simply because he is due and not because Kobe is better.

LBJ dont mess with Kobe. If Kobe doesnt have something he wants, he will go right for it. His goal two years ago was a scoring title, and that's what he got.
This year he wants DPoY and MVP. That's what he will get.

The truth is Lebron has a great deal of respect for Kobe. It goes both ways. Two guys who have a lot of respect for each other.

The idea that Lebron is just a humble guy is ludicrous. Too much evidence to the contrary, including Team USA officials considering leaving him off the roster before last summer.

But there is a political element to it, for sure. One thing that Lebron does, which Kobe did throughout his career, is never toot your own horn. Kobe never claimed to be the best player in the league, always accepted praise with apparent humility. It's why many critics consider Kobe "phony" while regarding self-aggrandizing guys like T-Mac and Arenas "refreshingly honest." Of course, the general media would construe James' political answers as indicative of King James' humility, regardless of the irony.

At the same time, I think Lebron is having a historical year. Has he played better than Kobe? Statistically, yes. Also, he learned a thing or two about Kobe's killer instinct, when he nailed a clutch three, then a clutch pull up shot in Kobe's face when he closed out the Lakers.

I have no problem giving it to Lebron, but if he does get it, it would clearly be a double-standard. If the media has denied Kobe in the past by citing team record, it should stick by that criterion.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do give it to Lebron though. In reality, I think the media picks the media darlings, regardless of the rhetoric.

LeBron may be trying to be a media darling, but he respects Kobe. Plain and simple. He will win his MVP's, ,there's no doubt. He's just saying that it's going to be a lot tougher than putting up 30, 8, 8 cuz Kobe dropped 35 a game and wasn't given **** for credit. He knows he'll get his, he's just paying his respects to the second greatest 2 guard of all time

Lebron is a big fan of kobe's. He said it coming into the league. He has mentioned many times some of the most incredible things he has ever seen on a court have come from Kobe. You have to remember the dude was what a freshman in high school?? when kobe was winning rings. I was in college at the time and I was a huge fan of what the guy can do...still am. I can only imagine Lebron has the same love for kobe since he watched him from such a young age as I do for Magic or Bird or Jordan. Lebron idolizes Jordan everyone does (he was the first real NBA media and commercial giant, I mean he turned his name into a product) but he was a little too young to probably really follow Jordan's career as it happened like he did kobe's.

These guys are human too. They are fans of the game as well. I am involved in the fitness industry and I am in awe of the big dogs like Alwyn Cossgrove and Coach Glassman. These guys are just at the top of their game I have to give them praise. If asked about what I thought of these guys I'd sound like I worked on their advertising team. There is no reason why competitors can't respect each other. In many competitive situations one of the first steps to victory is respect of the opposition/competition.

i agree and yes it would be a double standard about the record if they give it to lebron but the east is so bad compared to west its pathetic i beleive 9 teams in the west r on pace to win 50 games while only 3 in the east for the fact the east is so bad and the cavs dont even win 50 how could lebron even be in the top 5 but then again this is the MVP which has no real definition and the reason y sum1 wins it changes every year depending on wut ever the voters wanna make up for the year
