RUMOR: Shawn Marion available . . . again?

Do the HEAT look at Marion as their long-term acquisition to play alongside Wade or are they in fact rebuilding?

Coach Pat Riley can be quite proactive when he puts on the General Manager hat - would he be willing to quickly re-route Marion for expiring contracts and draft picks to make sure the opt out is no longer a HEAT issue?

Interestingly enough, HOOPSWORLD reports Marion could already be involved in talks, perhaps with the Dallas Mavericks and New Jersey Nets in a multi-team swap (although owner Mark Cuban refuted the idea).

I've never liked his game. I think he misses too many easy shots because he's got a little Kwame in him, he rushes everything.

This guy didn't like Phoenix because he was the 3rd option. Here he would be the 4th option. No thanks.

I agree with the fact that the Lakeshow will not do another deal this year as continuity is so important to PJ and his staff plus LO is playing great but for anybody to say LO is better then Marion is pure stupidity... Marion is a better scorer, slasher, finisher, defender, rebounder, runner and doesn't get hurt... He did have issues in Phoenix but he is a MUCH better ball player than LO...

Lamar is averaging 13 points 12.7 rebounds and 5 assist the last 10 games on 66% shooting. How is Marion much better then that?

And one thing that goes unnoticed. Lamar's passing is contagious. Everyone feeds off Lamar and moves the basketball to find the open shooter.

Rebounder - Lamar

Ball Handing - Lamar

Creativity - Lamar

Passing ability - Lamar

Wont Cry like a little baby because your not the 1# option - Lamar

And to me Marion's defense is overated. Steals dont mean your a great defender. Perimiter guys like Lebron, Wade, Arenas, Kobe usually light Marion up. He's not a lockdown defender

This is in reponse to your assertion that Marions D is overated just because he gets " steals". I really think you are not looking at the bigger picture of what a defensive player brings.

Now, I am not saying we should trade LO for Marion. I am happy with Odom's game blossoming with the emergence of Bynum and the addition of Gasol. So, please dont reply back to me making your case for Odom. Thats the not the point of this post.

Its just important to not mimimize another players talents, in this case, Marions defensive abilities.
Cheers. — Mags

We all know that B_Scott will blame kobe over Lamar....so arguing with B_Scott is useless.....atleast thats what I think....

And I like the way Lamar is playing right now...if he is this consistant..i would pay him 8mi/year.....why pay a guy 15Mi/year...when he is 4/5 option

Lamar is a great player, and for what he gives you is a steal. I loved him as did most fans only year in Miami. He doesnt complain with his role...will get you 14 8 and 5 without even being an option however can get you 28 15 and 8 any given night...

LO has all-star potential and if he was the main man like he was kind of with Wade his one year in south Beach, he would be.

So NO to trading LO

This is one of the few guys I'd seriously consider moving Lamar for. If Marion bought into the concept of this team, he'd be terrific.

He's a better defender, runs the break better, is a better finisher and an equal rebounder compared to Lamar (16.0 rpg the first 2 games in Miami for Marion). Better help defender too.

^^ Besides we will not pay Odom more than 10 million.. What makes us think we can extend Marion for more money --> All-Star or not he will still be our 4th option.

Marion's game is based on his athletic ability. He wants a max or close to it type of deal. Once his athletic ability fades he has nothing to offer. Besides I believe he was more of a product of the offensive system he was in. Other than last year he stats in teh playoffs have not been that good and has disappeared in many playoff games. Stay away from Marion.
