The chances of Jason Kidd wearing a Dallas Mavericks uniform this season are shrinking by the day.
First, Devean George refused to consent to the trade to New Jersey. Now, a league source says the NBA has informed Dallas that if Jerry Stackhouse is traded and subsequently waived by the New Jersey Nets, he can not be re-signed by the Mavericks.
"The league has taken Stackhouse out of the deal," the source said. "They said, 'He can be in the trade, but he can't go back to Dallas after that."'
props to Jordan-esque

they said he can be traded, he just can't go back. That's good. They lose him for good.

Kidd is not what the Mavs need, especially with what they're willing to trade away for him. The Mavs w/their bench > Mavs - bench + Kidd. What they really need is a better center... but we all know how hard that is to obtain, they don't have Kwame Brown.

So just because Jerry said what he said now they suddenly make up a rule, just because they didn't like his tone? How is the NBA going against it's own rules?

right... new jersey is going to settle for larry hughes when they had devin harris in their grasp... i dont think so... he's going to hang onto him till offseason... i dont think jason kidd contract expires so they dont risk him opting out the end of the season. Unless they get a decent offer for kidd like a bunch of picks and young players.
2 teams right now want Kidd:
1.) Cavs - if they trade gibson the scoring load will be placed even more on lebron. larry hughes contract is too horrid for new jersey to want... they would rather have signed devean goerge to an extension then take on hughes' contract unless they're morons. No one else has a large enough contract to make it work besides Big Z... Cavs can wish all they want but they dont have anywhere near the pieces to aquire kidd without giving up a large chunk of their scorers.. and you might as well make lebron score 100 points per game if you trade away all those scorers cuz kidd isn't going to help in that department (okay that was exaggeration).
2.) Denver - has a much much better chance than cavs... but i dont know if nets see nene (with his cancer situation), jr smith, najera, or kleiza as enough for kidd when they almost had devin harris. Seeing the trade with dallas... they will never take up allen iverson... camby is possible but denver becomes a very weak defensive team without him and they become even more thin inside with nene out...
If I were nets I would just tell Kidd we tried and he'll understand... he'll play for the team till end of season without as much frustration and nets can look to trade him in the offseason.

Good. Would've been annoyed had that been allowed to happen after Stackhouse's comments. Would've been a joke.
