It will never cease to amuse me how Tim Duncan's name is perpetually excluded from this argument. Is there a more underrated and underappreciated player in the history of the game?
That said, Kobe's body of work speaks for itself. To average 29.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists over eight seasons is nothing short of remarkable. Not only that, he's giving you maximum effort on a nightly basis, which will always be what I remember most.
I thought I'd never see a better competitor in a Lakers uniform than Magic Johnson. Kobe Bryant is every bit his equal in that category. I can't wait to watch him lead this team through the playoffs in the coming years. That's what he lives for as a player, and that's what I live for as a fan.

But while James, the leading scorer in the league who has evolved into a fourth-quarter terror, might be the most valuable player -- "They've shown they cannot win a game without him," Collins said of Cleveland -- Bryant hogs the conversation when it comes to who is best.
if that is the case Mr. Doug Collins how come Kobe didn't win MVP in the last 3 years?

I think we can all agree there is a double standard when it comes to Kobe. Yet I think he is past that now. His mind is on rings, and that is fine with me. Plus I don't think players are to worried about the MVP anymore. Not with everyone basically proclaiming Kobe the best in the game. What more could you want, besides props from your peers?

The Regular Season MVP has to do with being a favorites of the writers. Its a joke nowadays.
