I really do think Kobe having the surgery would be the best option for this team. I decided to look at the team

I think opting for the surgery is best too at this point. considering bynum's comeback in 2-3 weeks Ariza probably a week after that, we should be ok @ the tail end of Kobe's M.I.A. time.

He'd prolly do everying to be back before 6 wks, so the sooner the better IMO at least before the playoffs.

I agree about opting for the surgery. This way Kobe will be fresh and well rested for the playoffs.

They fall out of the playoffs if Kobe has surgery. It's that simple. Unless other teams get injured or have significantly worse records in the 2nd half of the season, Bryant having surgery is a bad idea.

People are overblowing this injury, it's not the kind of injury that will linger forever nor is it impossible to play with.

Im with you. I cant wait until tomorrow so people can see that Kobe is going to be ok. Plus, Lakers aren't even really playing good ball yet. People keep saying that Kobe and Pau have great chemistry already and I dont agree. They are winning because they are both really talented and both have a high basketball IQ. That shouldnt be confused with chemistry. Its going to take another 15 games for Kobe and Pau to click IMO and another 15 games to get Drew back in the mix. Ill take Kobe at 80% and team chemistry rather than Kobe at 100% and no team chemistry.

I think kobe should get the surgery now, its the best for him, the team/the franchise and for the future

i say let him play this whole month and see if we can get a big separation from the 8th seed if so then have the surgery done and he'll be back couple games before playoff starts.

Umm... from what I gathered the biggest risk is that Kobe reinjures the finger and then he has to do surgery immediately... which means if he injures it 2 weeks before playoffs then no kobe for playoffs and olympics. I dont think reinjury to the finger will make kobe worse next year... after surgery and several months of rest it will be as good as new. Besides the pinky is the least used finger in basketball. If things go well (best case scenario) he will partially self heal the pinky by playoff time and it won't hurt too much to affect him... so if he's 80% now he might be close to 90% by playoffs. If he slightly bangs it up more then he might go down which is the other risk. This isn't career threatening as in he can never play again if it gets injured again... that's over reacting... it just a risk for this year. Kobe woul d never forgoe surgery if it was threatening the rest of his career... they only suggest the surgery because it will take longer to heal and more extensive surgery if it gets reinjured... meaning he will miss several months and won't be able to return till next season.

For those who say Kobe should get that damned surgery inmediately, I think they ignore the advice we are not going to make the playoffs w/o Kobe. I also think these guys don

specially in the playoffs, the game will be alot more physical, kobe's defender would target that pinky just to slow him down

As long as raja doesn't try and act tough by taking cheap shots at kobe he should be fine. Occasional contact will happen,but kobe is tough enough to take it.

Look at the standings fellas. The WC is loaded and not many games need to be lost before LA finds themselves as the #9 overall team, the way Houston is currently.

This being said, not just making the playoffs is important, but having home court advantage at least in the first round is important because LA has key players that are young and not very playoff experienced. Bynum, Farmar, Sasha, and Turiaf all seem to play better at home as well. Luckily, Kobe, Fisher, and Odom have plenty of playoff experience.

IMO, without Kobe, LA struggles to make the playoffs and might sink too far down to recover. Also, Kobe now sees a championship that can obtained because of Bynum's development, but now even more so with Gasol on board. He's not about to take chances to see if the squad can hang on without himself on the court.

Right, because Kobe hasn't thought of that in making his decision.

Also... it obvious at least to me , why a Sun fan would want him to to get surgery....or are you going to pretend like you care about Kobe's well being.

Exactly, he needs to play there's no question about it.

kobe's a gamer he's gonna be okay and will probably win the MVP with bad finger and all.

Yes, surgery is the best option. 6weeks out and gasol&odom can keep this team in playoffs. bynum is coming in a few weeks and bryant would rest for a month what would be great for playoffs. Gasol would learn as well to take responsabilities if kobe has any other kind of problem in the future.

IMO it's a lose/lose situation and ultimately I believe it will cost us our chance to contend.

option 1: surgery now, miss playoffs, no chance anyways
option 2: no surgery now, kobe gets us to playoffs but won't play in them

I will say it is POSSIBLE that Bynum, Gasol and LO can keep us in the hunt. then Farmar, fish, machine, ariza, radman. We could have a shot to make the playoffs without Kobe, we would get killed in the playoffs without kobe.
