Good move by the Mavs, IMO.

Good move for us as well. Dallas won't be relevant much longer.

Edit: To clarify, JK is not going to be around much longer, and even if he is, adding him is not going to be enough to take Dallas anywhere. He instantly becomes the leader of that squad, but they still can't compete with SA, LA, or Phoenix due to their lack of size. That, and Dirk is still a choker.

i respectfully disagree, while Kidd is shooting terribly this season, his play making should help Dirk/Howard/Terry in getting free looks.
Besides, his experience and toughness are invaluable to this Mavs mentally weak squad.
Yes, they're thin upfront, but they need nothing more then an additional big who can fill for 10 minutes/6 fouls kinda production.

If that were the case then NJ would be better. They have capable scorers in RJ and VC, yet they still suck, so I can only assume the lack of an inside/out game is the cause.

I just don't see how this move pushes Dallas any closer to a title considering the recent upgrades to both the Lakers and Suns. Even if it does give them a shot this year, they will fall out of the picture in the near future since Kidd is 300 years old.

I do agree with this part

I think everyone's underestimating what losing Diop will do to Dallas. He wasn't a great, or even good player by any means, but he was a competent big body that could rebound, defend and block shots. Losing him makes them horribly thin up front. What do they do when Damp gets abused and/or in foul trouble playing against Pau/Bynum, Amare/Shaq and Duncan? God knows Dirk is cottony-soft and can't guard a chair, and Bass and Malik Allen are way to small to guard 5s.

Dallas has no inside presence at all.... they better avoid SAS, PHX or LAL in the first round if they don't want to go home early.

Dallas made a good deal in this one. They upgraded their point guard spot significantly and acquired a true leader to replace Dirk "the Chokester" Nowitzki. They were already a great team and with this addition, they are even better. It will be difficult for us or any team to beat them this season and the next. Of course, the consequence of this move is that they sacrificed their future but they are in a win now mode anyway. By the way, how did they manage to sneak Antoine Wright in that deal? He is a pretty good player, I am surprised NJ just gave him up.

Nets made out well here. They got a really good young PG along with the big man they sorely needed plus draft picks to continue rebuilding.

I'm waiting to pass judgement on how this will work out for the Mavs the same as with Shaq going to PHX.

Imo dallas gave up a lot of depth to this kat. In the same breath they kept the core in Dirt N. Josh How. The Kidd is a nice addition, but Amare, Tim, DrewPau and Waq are going to hurt Dirk and Erika Dam.

The Mavs did get a better deal the second time around though without having to give up Stack for any length of time like Kreuk said - even Devean is useful every once in a while.

i disagree with that. i think the lakers will do well against dallas in a 7 game series. dallas will have no presence in the paint on both ends of the court.

this deal is better for the mavs
but they still have problems in their frontcourt, which will be exposed against SA, LA, PHX
but hey they might beat the warriors now

I think this makes Dallas worse. I fear Harris more then Kidd at this stage.

Kidd can't break you down in a halfcourt set off the dribble anymore,while Harris consistently got inside the paint when we played Dallas.
