Great news to hear instead of that BS that BSPN spat out about how he'll miss the rest of the season.

here is another article on Bynums knee

and to add fuel to an old fire

The kid is sharp. Politician sharp. All he cops to is that Kobe's rant and the talk of trades put a chip on his shoulder and fueled his motivation. He says he understands why Kobe said what he did. He says his relationship with Kobe is solid, as good as ever.

Yeah. Bynum is smooth to the point of giving Kobe credit for something he himself had already planned and started acting upon.

If only Shaq had been more motivated while in LA the Lakers would have won more than 3 titles with the Kobe Shaq combo.

This is just my opinion based on the reports and injury..
Earliest = March 7th vs. Clippers
Latest = March 26th vs. Seattle

My Prediction: Friday 21st vs. Seattle

It could be later, but I don't see it being any earlier than the 7th. The thing that worries me is that is knee is still swollen, and he isn't running/jogging at all yet. There is some conflicting reports, but he is still on schedule for 2months, which would be mid-march. I don't think we bring him back on the road, but I could be wrong. At least, I think we should bring him back at home, which is why I gave those particular dates.

I just watched the 1995 finals on ESPN Classics, where Hakeem and the Rockets swept the Magic and Shaq.

Man, what a performance by Hakeem the Dream. I hope Bynum is studying The Dream's game closely, especially his defense and low post passing out of the double team.

Any progress report on Drew's injury, anyone?

That two- or three-year peak he had in his early 30s was absolutely incredible. Such a graceful and fluid player. Those turnaround 20-footers he used to drain were things of absolute beauty.

This is still my favorite Dream highlight:

I cover a ton of stuff at the Alamodome, and I always find my eyes drifting over to the area on the floor where that happened. I'm not sure if I've ever seen a better post move. Robinson is still looking for his jockstrap 13 years later.

Funny you brought this up, because I got bored and was watching Game 2 of our second-round series against Phoenix in 2000 -- Kobe hit the game-winner at the buzzer -- and it's so easy to forget what an absolute monster Shaq was.

He had a sequence where he spun around Longley, missed a reverse layup, snagged the rebound and powered up between two players for a dunk, and 1. A staggering combination of power and agility. Then he closed the half with two turnarounds from about 10 feet, and an up-and-under scoop layup after he picked up his dribble too soon.

I have the utmost respect for Wilt Chamberlain. But I have a hard time believing, even after all the reading I've done, that he was a more imposing physical specimen than a fully fit and motivated Shaquille O'Neal.

If Drew can be even halfway as good as those two were, we'll be very fortunate indeed.

When he comes back they will win 70 to 75 % of the remaining schedule! He needs to hurry back! This Kobe thing is too much!!!

Yeah, that play is amazing. What a brilliant player...

If Bynum could somehow combine Barkley's boxing out skills, Divac's chair-pull, Shaq's power and intimidation with Hakeem's defense, passing, smarts and finesse and Kareem's skyhook and scorer's mentality, we'd have a pretty special player.

Seriously, though, those are things I truly hope he studies. He has an opportunity to be an incredible player, I think maybe even more than we realize. He's a very smart individual and he has all the tools one could ask for.

^ His smarts (both in bball and intelligence generally) seem to be very sharp. That attitude and work ethic is so hard to predict with teenagers in the NBA because there are so many distractions. I'm just glad he was able to keep it together through these first 3 vital seasons.
