Like the guy said above.

POW . GAH-SOUL

That's how Spanish pronounce it. But either way is right.

As long as you don't call him PAUL KASOL, it's fine.

GAH-SOUL.

P.S. I think Hubie saying 'GAH-SAL" is worse.

I don't know why you guys get complicated at the time to explain the sounds... but it's odd to me that some of you who know spanish write it wrong too.

it's /GA-SOL/

plain and simple, there is no /gah/, nor even /soul/ come on, in spanish the 'o' is always pronounced /o/ never /ou/.

and his name is /pau/ (wow! just the way you write it, weird? spanish is easy...) the same sound like 'pow'.

advice for the future: all spanish words are pronounced always as they are written

I understand the trouble when it comes to Vujacic (if I had a $ for every time van Gundy pronounced it wrong, I'd have... well, 23 $ I guess) since you don't have the "ch" letter in your alphabet, but Gasol is as easy at is gets :).

ddito saves the day with the pronounciation lesson :).

using "gah-soul" is actually a very effective way to get an english speaker to pronounce it in spanish.

but they have the sound, the actual 'ch' sounds like that 'c', it's hard to me do some vocal sounds I've never heard, in english there are like 10 vocal sounds while in spanish only 5, that's difficult. if van gundy didn't know to pronounce it was because he's stupid.

I know what you're saying, but for me /ga/ is not the same that /gah/ and about 'soul' I thought in the us it was pronounced /soul/ with a very brief /u/ but maybe I'm wrong (in uk is a clear /soul/ sound), and as many people there call gasol /gasoul/ or /gasal/ I just wanted to leave it 100% right.

'Ga' could be pronounced with an 'ey' sound, as in the word 'gate.'

'Soul' is generally pronounced 'sol', though there are regional variations--just like in the UK.

gas sol as in gasoline, but without the "ine" at the end

Gasol is pronounced with a silent G, according to Western Conference executives.
