**Official Kobe for MVP Thread**

It's quite shocking that Kobe has not won the MVP yet. Every analyst has agreed that he should of won it by now. When Lebron was asked about him getting the MVP he said "if kobe hasn't won it, then there's no shot at it." I think people under estimate what it took for Kobe to get our horrible team to the playoffs the last few years. The starting team was
Smush
Kobe
Luke
Lamar
Kwame
The team was so bad, I remember us laker fans praying for Luke walton to return from injury to save the day. We were convinced that his "high basketball iq" would turn this team around once he came back from that ankle sprain. To say the least, I'm glad those days are over.
After last night's performance, I think Kobe is now the front runner for the MVP candidate. Even Bill Walton (gasp) agreed that he should get it. I always thought that the MVP was between Garnett and Kobe, and now with the Celts losing games with the return of KG, Kobe should finally get the nod. Chris Paul should definitely be heavily considered as he is having a freakish season right now. But I just don't see the NBA intelligencia voting in a young Chris Paul before Kobe.

Its gotta go to Kobe... Him or CP3 are the only ones even in the race anymore. I think whichever team finishes ahead of the other will probably win it. (So Kobes gonna win it)

He already got it IMO with Chris Paul a few inches behind him.

i honestly think CP3 will get it..although kobe should.
kobes been robbed the last couple years.and wouldnt be surprised if they gave it to someone other than #8 .but if they choose CP3..i wouldnt have a problem with that..CP3 is a beast and has his team at the top beating quality teams also..

Best player on the best team? Kobe, Chris Paul, and KG. Perhaps Deron Williams, Nash and Billiups should also be considered.
Best player in the league? Kobe and Lebron.
There's only one player on both lists.

they should have thought about that when they voted for somebody else in the past.

Could it be? Kobe wins MVP in the same season Mitch wins GM of the Year?

And the same year Kobe gets DPOY And the Finals-MVP
A fan can only hope .. no doubt in my mind no one deserves it more ...
On the other hand does anyone feel like if Kobe gets ripped off for MVP again he's gonna come out with a Fury like no other in the playoffs ?

Patrick, San Diego CA: After watching Kobe and the Lakers beat the Suns Wednesday, where do you now rank Kobe among your MVP list?
SportsNation J.A. Adande: (3:06 PM ET ) Right now I'd have him second behind LeBron. When Bynum went down and before the lakers got Gasol, they went 3-5. Kobe single-handedly beat Seattle their first game without Bynum, but he hasn't been doing this on his own most of the season. His team's much better than LeBron's, but LBJ is keeping his afloat.
Adande doesn't think so. Wow j.a. hasen't Kobe done this the last three years? They always said well he's playing great but his team is a 500. ballclub. Where's that excuse now. Everytime they said that was the main thing holding Kobe back and now it's like that rule doesn't apply...

So by that logic wouldn't you think that right now Chris Paul deserves it, especially while they have a better record? Otherwise wouldn't that mean that you think that NOH has more talent than the Lakers do? I know West and Chandler are good, but I don't think you can make a case where Paul is less deserving than Kobe, especially with what a huge role Paul has in every aspect of that team's game on both sides of the court.

This year has to be, no doubt, with the Lakers on top of the conference there's no more excuses.

Happy Kobe the Favorite to Win MVP
By David Aldridge
When the best player in the league starts to really believe he can win a championship, it may not matter how much the West has loaded up.
Was it just eight months ago that Bryant seemed to be in the midst of a nervous breakdown, demanding general manager Mitch Kupchak's head on a pike and a one-way ticket out of town for Bynum? Now, with Gasol playing an able Robin, Bryant is Batman, averaging 28.1 points per game and emerging as the favorite to win his first league most valuable player award.
That is the backdrop to the rest of the regular season and the playoffs. If the West is the conference to beat, the Lakers look as if they are the team to beat.
With Gasol around, Lakers coach Phil Jackson said earlier this month, Bryant doesn't have to take on the burden of being the top scorer every night. Indeed, Bryant's average has dropped a little in February.
"Kobe's a guy that gravitates toward that position," Jackson said. "It doesn't bother him at all. He wants to go out there and carry all the spears. We're happy there's someone he can share it with. I think it really enthused his game. It really made him much more joyful [after the trade]. . . . He was much more happy about the situation. It reflected in his play. It energized him."

What makes that quoted part even more horrible is the fact that the Lakers went 5-5 before Gasol actually played (with losses to Dallas, San Antonio, Phoenix and Detroit - at least one was on the verge of winning and we weren't exactly blown out in the other three) and not 3-5.
But not that it matters at the moment, considering the 1st spot in the West thing
