Odom's last 8 games w/ the Gasol addition !!!

Post#1 » by lakeshow248 » Sat Feb 23, 2008 12:12 am

A true 3rd opt.....

8 games since Gasol addition.... 14.6 ppg, 12.8 reb, 4.5 ast and and blistering 62.5 FG %

With him not being second option and the Lakers upgrading their second opt from smush parker to Pau it has turned Lamar into a force off the ball...and you can see his confidence is jumping.....

The thing I don't understand is as soon as Bynum went out and Gasol in Odom has played his best ball of his Laker career. Well maybe a little exaggeration, but the dude is off the hook. If he plays like this I would not trade him for Marion, Artest, Caron and the list goes on....

Am I wrong?

I love the way Odom is playing and it is suprising me, well I knew he had the talent but he wasn't putting it into any use.

As Slim said what happens when he goes to the 4th option, it probably would be hard for him to keep it up but I hope he does, cause Lamar is a guy you want to see suceed.

the best sign is the confidence he's showing in his mid-range shot. he's been money from the perimeter lately.

I'm no fortune teller, but I'd say assists go up, points down, rebounds stay the same. Only issue I see is when he's going to play SF, he's going to get blown by on defense. At that point he's going to have to

A. learn to recover quickly, maybe get the block from the behind.
B. Pau or Bynum would have to rotate and defend. Lamar would have to recover and defend their man, box out for the rebound.

they would be a great rebounding front court. Gasol, Bynum and Odom. Odom could push the ball off a rebound. I can't wait.

bynum/gasol/odom aren't going to always be in the game together. i imagine pau gets plenty of time at center and odom gets plenty of time at pf.

if odom couldnt make all-star as a 2nd option there's no way in hell he's making it as a 4th option.

The '06 Pistons beg to differ.

LO has been playing great basketball. He will be the X-Factor. We now have the best 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th option in the NBA.

I can't wait to see how he does at the 3. Andrew's injury seemingly is taking forever.

I think the rotation defense would work to facilitate him at SF because he's not going to be giving up much to Pau or Drew's man size-wise as long as he gets over to them in time.

Agree, actually i think the 3 will only be in the court in the beggining and in the end.

What do we do when Trev returns, if he does this regular season.

agreed

and if you look how he was playing beside bynum the last month or so before he got injured, he was doing pretty well. definitely looks like his confidence is back. he got off to a slow start but seems to have turned the corner.

well for starters, i really don't think Bynum will come back and start right away. I think he will come off the bench in the beginning. Being a young guy, I'm sure he will want to get right in there, and probably b!tch and whine about it, but Kobe and Phil will sell him on the idea of coming off the bench. Once the playoffs start and the game slows down, we will probably see Odom shift to the 3 and Bynum starting at the 5.

The question is whether he can give us production at SF. He's clearly a better rebounder than Gasol, but Gasol is better at most other things.

It's OK to make a mistake every now and then, Kreuk. Don't take it so personally. I make mistakes all the time.

Odom's going to get blown by on defense? Forgive me but who was that continously was the only one who was able to somewhat slow LeBronze?
