Lakers' Bryant has never won the NBA's most valuable player award, but he's never been more deserving of it than he is this season. The chant has always been there.
The truth behind it has not.
During the first few years, it was a high-pitched dream.
During the last few years, it was a hollow honorarium.
Finally, this season, for the first time, it is a reality.
"M-V-P! M-V-P! M-V-P!"
Kobe Bryant can win it. Kobe Bryant should win it...

although I agree with the MVP thing, Plascke is a two-faced TOOL, but extremely dull on both ends.

It will be very tough not to give it to him if the Lakers finish with the best record in the West.
I think he should get it even if they finish in the top 4 in the West.
He is clearly the best player in the league and this year he has made everyone else around him better.
The award in general means very little to me, specially after Nowitzki won. But this year, Kobe would have to be considered the MVP, even by the current standards.

He has to win simply for the fact that he never has. He is the best player in the league and imo of alltime and he has never won an mvp award. I think him playing with 9 fingers will help him with the votes. Dirk won last year which was an outrage and Nash has won 2x and Kobe none?
How can they not give it to him. Some experts are predicting KG but he plays with 2 superstars and his numbers are lower then ever and he has won 1 before. Even if the Cavs finish in first place Kobe should still get it.
This is what I see as
1.Kobe
2.Lebron
3.Paul
4.KG
5.P.J. Brown (any of you guys remember that?)

This is what I don't understand:
There are so many people saying Lebron is the MVP because he averages 30 8 and 7 despite the fact that his team has 20 something losses already in the eastern conference, but if you go back to 2006 Kobe had one of the best individual seasons in NBA history averaging 35+ ppg, the 81 point game, the 50 and 40 point streaks and single handedly carried his team to 45 wins and a playoff spot in the tough west but most people were saying that he's not the MVP because he didn't win enough games and he came 4th in the voting. Now is it just me or is something seriously wrong with the people calling James the MVP?
2005-2006---- Kobe has one of the greatest individual season and carries team to 45 wins and #7 seed in the west which would have been good enough for a top seed in the East. Continues to be called the best player in the game but he comes 4th in MVP voting because his team "doesn't win enough games".
2007-2008---- Kobe has team with top spot in the toughest western conference in NBA history with 9 fingers and injured key players with a little over a month left in the season. Lebron James is averaging monster numbers but team can't get past 8 games over .500 and would not be in the playoffs if they were in the west but remains the consensus pick for MVP by most.
Just doesn't quite add up to me. Let's stop the hate and give the man his due.

Back when Shaq was with the Lakers he had years where he was in an even better situation and didn't win it. He dominated the league but the argument was that someone like Duncan (or whoever) should get it because that team finished with a better record... and sometimes people would mention he had Kobe with him to team up on everyone. If the Lakers finish in the top two of the conference then Kobe should have a great shot. They might not have a better record than Boston, but the west is a significantly more difficult conference to play in and Kobe has arguably been as important as KG for their respective teams. Cleveland might have (had) a weaker roster, but that's more than canceled out if the Lakers finish that strongly in the west.

The Cavs still have a weak roster. They trade away their 2nd big option for only a rebounder/defender? Gooden had the package. Scoring and D. And then Donyell for Wally? That's a lateral move.
As for Kobe, he deserved it for the past two years. He was playing his ass off in 05-06 where had one of the greatest individual seasons in history and managed to lead a weak team to the playoffs with 45 wins. He deserved in 03 as well without a doubt. He definitely deserves it this year.
He got cheated twice. He's not gonna get cheated again.
