If you were Lakers management, and you could only offer one of them a 3 year contract, which player would you pick and why?
I was having this conversation with some co-workers, and none of us could clearly convinve one another..
Thoughts?

the obvious answer is jordan farmar. then you turn around and sign sasha to a 10 year contract.

Id have to go with Jordan Framar. He has talent. Its a hard pick though becuase Sasha helps with his 3 pointers off the bench. But if you have been seeing Jordan is hitting a lot of 3s now a days. Id love to see the lakers keep both but if i was the gm id keep Framar.

Yes, it seems to be a tough question, but I am leaning towards Farmar as well. It seems that he is more well rounded, and when his shots go in, even beter. But, Sasha is taller, and longer, and can seem to irritate people like no ones business...

jordan, no wait, farmar, well, i think i will go with jordan, actually on second thought, farmar, but then again, jordan...
oh i dont know, i just cant make up my mind - eeny, meeny, miny, moe-FARMAR.
sorry guys, i love what sasha has done this year, but Farmar is hands down the choice to sign to a 3-year deal, right now.
next question to get us through this post trade-deadline hangover...

Save yourself and fix that typo.
Framar is a better shooter than Farmar though

This doesn't even deserve to be a discussion, because Farmar is clearly the choice. The two years that Farmar has been here, he has been improving tremedously each season. He drove Parker out of the team last year and is leading our bench attack and defense now as our 6th man.
Vujacic, on the other hand, only started to playing well and knocking down his shots about two months ago. His production has been pretty good for us this season but I have a gut feeling that it is all for the contract year. The same way Luke Walton looked like a total stud last season only to disappear after he get his contract. He can stay if the price is very very low but if anyone would offer him a long term contract for big money, we should let him go and try to sign Juan Carlos Navarro.

Jordan will start for us within a year or two. No matter how long Sasha stays with the lakers, he will never start for us (barring any injuries to our starters).

Farmar.
Yes we know that sasha can hit the three and that he is beginning to drive to the hole. But he lacks some of Farmar's qualities.
Farmar is a smarter player, he will make better decisions in critical moments. He is a natural facilitator, a true pg. That will always be more valuable than a 3pt specialist.
Speaking of a 3pt specialist, Farmar will eventually become that. He will eventually become a Farmsha but sasha will never become a Sashmar. Farmar is not a shoot first kind of guy so it is obvious that his shot will come along as his career progresses (tony parker). A shooter is what sasha was made to be so his obstacle is consistency. he will never be expected to be a facilitator as much as farmar will be expected to hit that three shot consistently (Fisher)
Let us picture a Farmar 6 yrs from now and a sasha 6 yrs from now. Farmar will get a little bit of bulk and be one tough little son of a B, (with the exception of chris bosh, everyone eventually gets bigger and stronger). He will be valued around the leagure because of the leadership he can bring to the locker room (best case, J kidd).
Sasha will still be a Kleiza, Korver, kapono, peja best case scenarion he will be a mike miller (w/ better three). he will not bulk up because in practice his priority will always be his shot... and that is because the fans expect, and teams pay him first and foremost to make the 3 shot. he will just be another guy in the locker room.
Farmar has the potential to become an 8+ mill type of player.
Sasha will always be a mid leveler
The ONLY way Sahsa becomes more valuable than Farmar is if he turns into a defensive specialist as well as he is a 3pt specislist. Can we say bruce bowen? But will that happen? I just wont bet on it. He does not have a defense first mindset. Its a 3pt first, minutes second, gamble for a steal third, and theeeenn defense fourth.

You have to go with Farmar. But the Lakers can keep both for cheap I don't see the Lakers giving anything more than what they gave Cook to Sasha (3 for 9 million). Plus Sasha is restricted if the Lakers can't come to an agreement with him he can just take the qualifying offer. Ronny I think is the more important FA.

framar, is our long term guy his potential and what he has shown already distances himself from sasha plus havent you guys noticed that he is also a quick learner, that guy totally has the handle on the tri
if sasha asks for a ridiculous amount of money, let him walk. like someone said we should turn around and sign juan carlos navarro. farmar could start point as soon as next year and fish moving to the bench. when kobe sits framar could slide over and have juan carlos or fish take over the point or vice versa. we would be a pretty sick team, extremely deep.
im lovin sasha this year but man its taken him awhile to get to the point where im watching the games and shout pass it to sasha (thats only if kobe isnt playing). also, when he gets under the skin of the opposing teams superstar is an added bonus b/c that results in that dudes foul, or ejection making the game a whole lot easier.
both dudes are lakers future but one is what we call a franchise pg and the other a career role player. i mean the level of play framar is on, he could be starting on numerous teams around the league right now.

Vujacic is a product of good coaching. He's a "system player"
Farmar is a naturally talented athlete with a higher ceiling.

I wish it were that easy. Farmar is 6-2. You know how many 6-2 smart atheltic guys are already in the L that has been on the verge of stardom every year? Im just being realistic. Do you think Farmar, given a starters role could be a Devin Harris or Tony Parker? Can he compete with the other PG's?
(By the way, I am leaning more towards Farmar)
