Start Lamar at Center vs Rockets? Yes or No

Post#1 » by B-Scott » Sun Mar 16, 2008 6:10 am

Go small

C Lamar
PF Rad
SF Kobe
SG Sasha
PF Fisher

With Kobe guarding T-Mac on defense

This makes Mutombo have to come out and defend Lamar and most likely that will result in the Rockets making a quick lineup change. Lamar will blow right by him and the Rockets will have to collapse and help out and guys will be wide open.

Id start Ronny at center and then go small in the second/early 4th with the small ball lineup.

Starting Ronny doesn't make Mutombo have to come out on the perimiter.

With Lamar at C you let him bring the ball up the floor. Now Mutombo is guarding Lamar in the backcourt at 41 years old.

This takes away there shot blocker and forces them to make a quick lineup change.

No way do i use this lineup every game. Just for tomorrow because there center is old and slow, but he can still block shots.

Actually starting Ronny, then switching to this lineup is a good idea. You dont have to necessarily start this lineup.

Hmm, not a bad idea though. I def think they should stick lamar on dike at some point. It would cause a lot of problems for them on Defense and dike is basicaly not a big scorer anymore. So it could work.

No, the small lineup would only work if the lakers are hitting their shots from outside.. theres no way of knowing that before the game so i think turiaf definitely gets the start and then later on if the lakers are hot it would be perfectly fine to go small..

Odom doesn't take advantage of mismatches very well so this would probably be a failure, plus he'd probably get into foul trouble on defense now that he's in a role (2nd option) that he has failed at before. This is a pretty bad idea.

Yeah either start Lamar or throw in Mbenga, he will show Mutombo who is the really warrior.

Lamar can be a good option at C for this game but i dont think he will start the game like that.

I think Ronny will start.

that doesn't sound like a bad plan but what happens if their guards get to the rim? lamar won't contest and we'll get exposed early and often...Turiaf will atleast attempt to block the shot.

Maybe give it a quick look like you said.

What happens on defense? We'll get killed on the boards.. Odom doesn't have the mental capacity to take advantage of mismatches.

bad idea.

PG: Fisher
SG: Sasha
SF: Kobe
PF: Odom
C: Turiaf
