Before you guys traded Javaris Crittenton, I saw the hype you guys had for him. Some of you thought he'd be a guy to take over for Kobe. So far, watching the Grizzlies games, he's been up and down (he is 19 after all), but I've noticed a recurring pattern.

Here's what I ask of you Laker fans...give me some hope, PLEASE! Tell me what you like of him, his PROS and CONS, but preferably PROS. I'm beginning to give up on him.

Pros:
Extremely versatile for a point guard. He can pretty much do or has the ability to do all you can ask for.
Good athleticism but doesn't rely solely on it. Also pretty damn fast.
Cons:
Doesn't seem to have the desire to be great, at least from the look on his face.
Immature. He makes bad decisions trying to impress people with what he can do.
But no doubt, he will have a very solid NBA career. I think he's capable of putting up 17 6 8 at his peak. Very talented, just needs to grow up some, which is or was true for all young players not named Lebron.

You are pretty much right on. I thought he was too turnover prone. Once he learns to play within himself and your system he'll be fine. You can go back to previous Laker board topics (~ month into season?) but after Farmer's great start this board was split 50-50 on who the better prospect long will be. He should a decent to good career.

I think his deadpan-look is something to be desired in sports. It has somewhat of a sense of calmness that can be relied on in necessary situations like not crumbling in crunch time.
It's his first year, he was restrained as a Laker; and now seems to be somewhat free in Memphis...a lot of reasons not to panic. I can tell you that I was not very happy with Farmar in his rookie season...now, he's a catalyst in our so-called "Bench Mob"

If jason kidd and steve nash were TO the ball you would say they trying fancy pass too often... but their veterans who practiced the pass enough to get it where they want them... also it has to with where teammates are... he hasn't been with the team long enough to know where they like to stand.
Critt right now is trying too hard to get memphis to love him... he had a lot of praise from laker fans, but when he went to memphis no one really thought he was going to be good and always attached his worth to paul gasol's...

Javaris labeled himself as a pass first PG coming out of college. The problem was that the Triangle doesn't need a PG to dominate the ball and create within the offense. Phil got in his head a little bit because no matter how much he praised the kid he could never crack the non garbage time rotation. That is just how Phil is. The only reason Farmar got minutes his rookie year was because Smush was really THAT bad.
Critt is experimenting right now, he's trying to find himself in the NBA and I'm sure he still finds himself trying to prove that he belongs being the 3rd pg in Memphis. Next season I would expect him to step into more of a playmakers role. He'll be fine. At best he'll be another Tony Parker, but he will never be worse then Smush Parker.

Why be an Ahole? You don't speak for most fans, because most of the fans I talked to still have an interest in the progress of Critt. At least the ones that really know basketball. There's no reason to kick a team when they're down. How bout showing a touch more class...especially on our home board.

someone stated it earlier but all his cons are correctable. His pros are just off the wall. I see him being a great player when given some playing time. it was sad to see him go, especially since kobe was taking him under his wing. You guys have a great player in the shadows for now. memphis just needs to let him play.

It'll take some time for him to develop. He's a rookie. He plays the PG position, not like he has alot to work with too after your fire sale. Once memphis finds a good owner (wasn't the fire sale in order to make the franchise more sellable?) and they get good young talent, Crittention will come into his own. If you don't believe me, will you do a sign and trade - Crittenton for Sasha?
Man I miss his skills , His power dunks , the ability to grab boards , his quickness , his desire to win , his shot blocking .........Oh wait thats Bynum Im thinking of .
