Kwame Brown aka Cakeboy

Kwame will be a free agent this summer and I would love to pick him up. He has stated that he wants to go somewhere that they want him, and money comes in secondary to him.
I think Kwame is much better option than both Mihm, and DJ.
He had some solid runs with the Lakers, and has played hurt much of the last few seasons.
I think that boooing part might have killed in chances of us picking him up.
Thoughts...

Bynum/Kwame
Gasol/Turiaf/Vladi
Ariza/Walton/Vladi

Farmar/Fisher

I think we should pick him up as well, but I would like to see him come off the Bench for the Clippers and give Kaman some backup.
Yeah I like the Clippers too, sue me.

Money comes secondary for him? He makes it sound like he has a choice here. He is a scrub, period and no team in their right mind would offer him more than 4 million a year.
As far as the Lakers goes, I don't ever want to see Kwame Brown back here again. We are a contender now, which means we don't have to overpay to sign free agents any more. We can now attract some serious veteran free agents to sign with us for cheap. I would much rather for us to make a run at guys like Patrick O'Bryant, Theo Ratliff, Brian Skinner, Michael Doleac, Francisco Elson or DeSagana Diop. No more Kwame's pathetic excuse of basketball skills, three years was enough.

I, personally, am done with him.
His game has regressed further on the offensive end than I could have ever imagined. I also found him lazy on defense, and unwilling to be a force in the middle. While he can play some of the bigs well, his complete lack (at this point) of offensive skill all but neutralizes that.
At this point, we need to spend money on Turiaf and Sasha. Turiaf has done a very admirable job as a center and actually provides a better shot blocking and defensive presence than Kwame night in night out.

I think Kwame understands that the media had a lot to do with the booing.
he knows that it is not his fault that he got drafted at number 1 and when the media realized that he wasn't gonna live up to it they focused on the negatives and that is why the media was not reminding the public that his s****y playing was due to injuries most of the time.
it is almost the same thing that is happenning to Luke Walton this season.
I don't think we have lost any chance at resigning him for a cake and a bag of chips this summer. I would actually welcome him back. I think that if Memphis would have let him go, he would be playing for the Lakers right now instead of Newble.

He brings negative energy, and mediocre play.

oh god... please no more kwame... please!!!
these are things we need to do before we even think of re-signing kwame...
1. extend bynum
2. re-sign sasha
3. re-sign turiaf
4. get rid of mihm
5. find something to do with luke
DJ mebenga is fine... the guy is unpolished, but he has tons of upside and he's cheap cheap cheap...
unless kwame wants to play for free, I don't want him anywhere near staples unless he's tearing ticket stubs for fans. he stole enough money from the laker's org.

Once we play the Celtics again, we can appreciate the value of KB54. Perkins and KG are rough, they bang you, push you and talk smack. Kwame can take that, he's tough like that. he'll bang, push, box out and do all the precious little things needed at that time. More importantly he'd protect Bynum and Gasol as long as he's around the rim.

yeah except kwame doesnt want to do those things. he wants to score... turiaf does all those things and he can score...
how's he going to protect gasol and bynum? is he going to stare down KG? is he going to push KG? threaten KG? or what

I guess you didn't watch the game we last played against them. LO playing PF, got rejected by KG and just went into a shell, standing at the 3pt line and KG/Perkins start double teaming Bynum because there is no other big body around. Bynum would continually lose his footing, rebounding positions and just flat out got pulled away from his game.
To make matters worse, Perkins dunks on him, stares and talks smack like he's the next big thing or like that.

actually, Kwame is one of the few players in the NBA that can actually slow down KG and Duncan. if you look up the stats of KG and Duncan Vs Kwame you will be very surprised. I am not willing to pay Kwame a lot of money, but if we can get him for cheap I say go for it. I would take kwame on the cheap vs Mihm and DJ.
the big issue with Kwame was that he was overpaid and he was a number 1 pick, and yes he was overpaid, but with that said if he would have been cheap to begin with and a second rounder the complaints against him would not be worse than they are for DJ or were for Mihm.

For those of you that do not want Kwame back, tell me what do you see in DJ that you did not see in Kwame.
I mean lets me real now, I would take Kwame over Mihm and DJ anyday of the week.
Hence, i'm not talking about paying Kwame top dollars, but if we can get him for cheap why not? He had pretty solid D.. much better than DJ or Mihm would ever have.

When? last year? because it damn sure wasn't this year. His one on one defense has regressed and his team defense is absolutely horrible....lets not even talk about his offense. His Cons far outweigh his Pros I'll tell you that much. I for one don't want him back....WE DON'T NEED HIM.

Taking kwame back wouldnt be so bad if the price is right. If he wants 4 mil i dont think that will happen considering i feel at most his play is worth 2. If we can get mihm out of there id feel safe to let him take mihms pay. DJ is a good backup in that he is physical but there are some questions about his play. I do know that he isnt the greatest at the game but he gives the game alot of hustle. kwame has actually done us some good against some teams say SAS. he hasnt stopped Duncan but he sure has been able to slow him down, same thing goes with Garnet, and if im not mistaken hes also done the same with Yao a couple times. He is not a stopper but he sure does make it difficult.

in his short time with us, DJ proved he can be at least valuable as Kwame, only 20 times cheaper.

DJ has the rest of the season to prove he's a work in progress.
Kwame is done developing, but you know the coaches and team love him as a person, so he'll likely be back. He's a fragile dude mentally and he loved his time with the team, booing or no.
