Lakers' Achilles Heel(s)

Post#1 » by acion » Mon Mar 24, 2008 2:11 pm

Recent games have shown what is the Achilles Heel of the Lakers - quick penetrating small guards who can score, and athletic 3's with some range.

Which is why these are the teams the Lakers have the hardest match ups, and the best:

Spurs - Parker and Ginobli
Warriors - Ellis and Jackson
Hornets - Paul, and West is a load as a hybrid 3/4

Teams the Lakers match up fairly well with:

Suns - Nash looks to dish first, and without Marion
Houston - the point guards don't scare anyone in a 7 game series
Mavericks - even with Dirk, Kidd doesn't look to score
Utah - Deron kills the Lakers, but they can handle Boozer

When Bynum comes back, this will help with the penetrating points, if he remembers to stay out of foul trouble in his help (he was getting better before the injury). Gasol, doesn't help much on either front.

I agree which is why I think it is so vital Bynum starts when the playoffs start. They need that defensive big.

Yes, i also like phil to use more DJ. the problem is in the other board. No balls to DJ, lets make out of him something like BigBen wallace. just fighting for boards and blocks.

This has always been our downfalll. Even back to the kobe and shaq days. And who was our pg at that time?? Oh yeah Derek Fisher. We still have this problem now. Wait. Who is our pg now?? Oh yeah Derek Fisher. I'm starting to see a pattern here.

Heres what I think about these teams.

Spurs- Aging front court players, most with limited offensive skills
except Duncan.

Warriors- No depth in front court case close in other words NO CHANCE

Hornets- Same as Warriors.

I could care less about those teams quick guards, they ain't gettin in the paint and have success with two 7 footers and 6'10" guys on the court.
