The Lakers currently own Charlotte's 2008 second round draft pick via the Kareem Rush deal.
The Lakers received Charlotte's 2007 second round draft pick, which translated into either Sun Yue or Marc Gasol.

I am pretty sure it is 08 but who cares really. Odds of being a steal are so slim. It happens sometimes but when the year where they don't have a pick I never bother with that much draft talk.

lakers own the bobcats 08 pick via the jumaine jones trade. the kareen rush trade turned into last years pick (#40) used on sun yue. the lakers used their 07 (#48) 2nd round pick on marc gasol). lakers will receive memphis 2010 2nd round pick. the lakers own first round pick in 08 belongs to the grizz (top 3 protected) as well as its 2010 1st round pick (top 6 protected)

According to ESPN and Nbadraft.net this years early second round pick comes from the Rush trade. I think the Yue pick came from the Jones trade.

So we have 2 2nd round picks this year, is that correct?

I'd trade the pick
We have enough young players. We are a loaded team. We need our youngsters to play and develop even further.
Drafting someone late in the second round won't help us win in the next 2-4 years IMO.

They'd probably draft another international player and let him develop overseas or sell the pick for cash considerations like Dallas did last season.

by what would jack bauer do?
eff trading the pick, this draft looks deep. Nathan Jawai looks like a Paul Millsap or Craig Smith type of steal. Having a back-up bruiser sitting on the bench would be nice.

Jawai would be great but I doubt he'd fall till the late 50s with teams like Nets so desperate for that kind of size and bruising presence down low.

This dude is a freak standing @ 6-10 or 6-11 and is 285......
Anything that size and agile like he is would look great next to Ronny coming off the bench

so do we have two 2nd rounders or just the one

The Lakers have 2 second rounders. I think the Bobcats pick will be a SG because Sasha is a FA and the lower pick will probably be some kind of project like a Yue or something.
