Why do people keep saying they want the 3rd seed?
This is stupid and wishful thinking. If we get Houston that's nice and all but we have to beat the good teams anyway to win the championship so running away from facing Dallas, GS, or Denver won' t get us anywhere.
And most importantly the Spurs would have the homecourt advantage over us in the 2nd round and Hornets would have homecourt if we got to the conference finals. I don't know about you guys but I don't wanna play a game 7 in a loud SAS or New Orleans arena.

I hate to say it but this is premature, we still have head to head match ups with Spurs and Hornets of which all the Lakers have to do is win.
Yes it will result in a 2-2 tie for both series, but as it stands the Lakers already have a better conference record then the Spurs and beating the Hornets give us that tie breaker.

Even if we DID get the three seed, there is no guarantee that we would play Houston. We could just as easily play Phoenix in the first round, than San Antone on the Road, and the New Orleans on the road. We definitely want the one or two seed.
I'm not afraid of Golden State....with Pau and Drew back in the lineup they have no chance. When Drew was in the lineup the first time around we destroyed them in their house. We beat Denver 4 times this season, and we own Dallas.
We want the one or two seed...and I say that only because, looking at the Hornets remaining schedule, if they beat us, I think they win out. We need someone to beat them to even have a chance, and even then we'd have to win all the rest of our games. One or Two is just fine for me.

kind of a lame thread but i think we'd all obviously rather see denver or houston than san antonio or utah in the first round. after the first round it doesn't matter. we just could use that little extra time against a less tough team to work bynum back. we should look to win all the rest of our games and get 1st seed tho.

I don't care what seed we get. I want us to pick up our D and to be healthy for the playoffs. I know Bynum is ready to go but the front office is being cautious because they remember what happen with Karl Malone. He had a similar injury and it all went down hill from there. If it wasn't for Fisher and his 0.4 miracle we would have not even made it to the finals that year. So a healthy team is what I want. What seed you are in the West this year is not going to matter. 1 through 9 are all capable of taking each other outin a 7 game series regardless of who has home court advantage.

I dont think its really logical to compare a 20-year-old-on-the-brink-of-dominance's injury to a 70-year-old-on-the-brink-of-retirement's.

Looking on ESPN's matchups I am actually glad to stay a third seed. We will be playing against the rockets which doesnt have a dominate center, which allows us to work Bynum into the lineup. Dont get me wrong its stil l going to be challenging but it would be a lot easier to get bynum and ariza acclimated. But honestly with a healthy team I dont care what seed we are because we are strong team regardless, and as much as home court does help, we still play good ball on the road.

seems to me that the last team you would want to play is the spurs, and getting the 2 or 3 seed would mean that you will prolly play them in the second round, getting the number one seed would be great for the lakers, homecourt, mvp for kobe (if the hornets are first, CP3 will get it), and not have to face SA until the West finals (gives bynum more time to adjust), or possibly not face them at all......Houston,GS,Denver would result in a 5-6 game series, and having to face PHX or Utah in the second round would be much easier than SA
so i guess what im saying is that you dont want SA in the second round, and if the lakers dont get the 1 seed, id rather have SA get it, and play the hornets in the second round
