What year did you start watching the LA Lakers and being a fan?
Also who here did get the opportunity to watch the Lakers Dynasty in the 80's in whole or in part?
Just trying to get a feel for how long many have been following Lakers basketball.

I'm 27. The first year I started watching was when Ceballos joined the team... I've caught about 60% of the games since then.

I started watching the Lakers in the 1984-85 season, which was their 3rd title of the decade. I was 9 years old at the time and took a liking to Magic and the Showtime Lakers simply because they were fun to watch.
I think it was my first exposure to NBA basketball, being that my family just migrated from Germany, and my step-father happened to be a Lakers fan, being from California and all.

I think I was four or five, my dad and I sat in the rocking chair. I was the year Jordan won his first title. 1990-91 season.

i grew up in a home where futbol was the only sport that mattered.

The day the Lakers acquired the greatest player in the league, Kareem, my radio and tv started playing the smooth sound of Chick (and Builders' Emporium commercials!)

i always liked the Lakers but i didnt start watching games and became a "true" fan till we got Shaq there was just so much excitement in LA. Plus i'm only 23 so i couldnt enjoy the "Showtime" era. I really wish i could have though it just looked like beautiful basketball. But now i"m a diehard fan even if we have a Miami type year. at least i could afford some tickets if that ever happened... probably not though this franchises pockets are too deep and the appeal of being a young millionaire living in LA is a dream come thru to most people giving us a huge advantage at attracting GREAT players.

Being only 20 I started following the Lakers just before the 99-00 season started. Haha a great time to start being a hardcore fan.
When NBA.com had Virtual GM I would always have Kobe as my starting two-guard. O'Neal was just way too much to pay for.
Living in Australia, getting a Lakers game on TV is very rare. I believe the last game they showed on ESPN Australia was the Lakers vs. Sonics game although I'm hoping that they show the New Orleans game this Friday.
So with no TV, I'm pretty much watching the live scoreboard and refreshing the RealGM page every 2-3 mins to see how fellow Lakers' posters react to a Kobe 2-point shot or an airball by VladRad.
My favourite moment watching the live scoreboard would be seeing us get over the line against the Suns in game 4. I've never been so happy reading 'Bryant:2-point shot made'. I plan to goto the states in the next 2-3 years to catch a Lakers game. Hopefully it will be a tad more exciting than an online gamecast

well my family took me to games as early as the mid 70's. I have memories of the games as early as 78-79. Been to a bunch of Showtime era games, playoffs, and championships.. Went to many games in the mid 90's because the tickets were easy and cheap

then ofcourse the Kobe Shaq era... when Staples opened. So, for a good 30 + years its been in my blood.

Started watching games when I was little, around 85-86. Remember my dad taking me to games at the forum against the Bulls, driving past the cemetery in Inglewood to get there.
Good times.

I've been a fan my whole life but I remember starting to watch every Lakers games in 1996. I was about seven back then. The year we got Shaq and Kobe. The team had nick the quick and eddie jones was my favorite player. I also remember hating George McCloud that dude couldn't shoot for sh#@.

It all started when kobe made that between the legs dunk

(im proly 7 at that time, started playing bball at 13) and won the dunk contest. Since I live outside the states at that time it's really super hard to follow laker games, almost every game they broadcast are bulls' game. I became a fulltime laker fan I think at age 11
high tide or low tide laker fan for life!

I come from a family of Laker fans... My grandpa has been watching the Lakers since they moved to Los Angeles and has seen all the greats in person... My mom and uncle are Laker fans also...
I first remember watching basketball when I was about 4 with my mom... Of course I didnt understand the game at all... I started playing basketball when I was 8-9... and I started actually watching (Laker) games during the 97-98 season, when I was 9-10 years old...

Same exact year and age for me too, except my father was the reason I started watching.

Damn, its almost the exact situation with me, even with the futbol part. Only difference is that im 18.
Although I didnt know all that much about basketball and every in-and-out of it, I do remember watching NVE, Eddie Jones, and Vlade back when I was a little kid (always lived in LA, so games were always on TV).
I got real serious about basketball when the Lakers landed Bryant and Shaq (wasnt it the next year? 96?).
Basketball's been my religion ever since.
