The absolute perfect triangle Phil/Kobe pg's

1. Kirk Hinrick- He is 6'3 or so he can guard the better of the 1 and 2 can hit the 3, makes all the right decisions and would fit in perfect like a glove on the Lakers. I know I have said this before about him and I have said RJ would be the perfect Laker sf but it's been a while and I think it's appropaite to talk about because we have the perfect players for positions 2-5 we just don't have a star pg.
If we had Kirk it would be a little unfair having an arguable allstar at all 5 positions. We would probably win 80 games but seriously Kirk is available and I believe he is perfect. He is one of the best defensive pg's in the league which helps Kobe, he is tall which Phil loves so he can run that 3 man defensive scheme and he is a star like Odom were he needs no plays called for him no glamor or glitz and just fits in.
The second pg who is perfect for the triangle is not in the nba yet
Russell Westbrook- He is 6'4 so he can also guard the better of the 1-2 position to let Kobe guard the weakest of the backcourt player and he can completely handle the ball and be a pg but in the triangle offense as we know they often play off the ball and he would be great in the nba off the ball. In the West he would be able to matchup against the pg's because of his extreme quickness and height. Seems like he has good shooting potential.
I am very happy with Farmar (I know Fisher is the starter but Farmar is the pg of the future and at Fisher's age we don't know how many seasons from now until he is a 15 minute a game player). Now personally I love Farmar and he is one of my favorite players not only on the Lakers but in the league although my favorite players are all Lakers. The only problem with not having a triangle pg is Kobe has to guard sg's. Odom can't guard the 2's and Kobe guard the 3's and Farmar is just to short to guard the 2's although it might be worth it to take Kobe off the Wade's and the JJ's and Carter's.
I doubt Westbrook slips out of the first round and our first pick is a second rounder so I realize we have 0 chance of getting him but with Mitch being so brilliant he just might find a way. I don't know if trading Farmar is worth it but I would love to have Westbrook.

hinrich has the experience but Westbrook is going to be awesome, i love that kid. he has no problem attacking the basket. he's a mini version of ariza with the slashing to the hole and defending. he filled in for collison for a good amount this year when he went down with injuries then was getting back into form, westbrook took it as a natural and showed he has an all around game. sure he needs some more tweeking but who doesnt!?
i doubt we can get any of the two
hinrich is going to get a higher offer than the lakers b/c we are strapped for cash
westbrook is a lottery pick if he comes out this year and could either be a higher lottery pick next year or a early first rounder which i doubt our lakers will see in a long long long time

It might be the first but it won't be the last. Mitch will be the GM of the year this year or the runner up or he will win it next year. Gasol has never been on a team this good, he is not even in his prime yet and he will get better. Him playing for a championship caliber team a coach like Phil Jackson and a players like Kobe and Bynum with Odom setting him up and alot of the rebounding duties away and Gasol playing with 3 other guys you can't double and another who is not great doubling off (all 3 pg's) Gasol is going to be incredible in the playoffs, next season and from here on out.
It's true we gave away Butler but this makes up for it and people will forget it.
Odom should have been traded a long time ago but he is playing incredible right now (although it is a little weird now Odom is playing great and now is when they are talking about maybe not extending him but hopefully that is just a tactic) and now is when he has the most value if they trade him even more then the past 3 years so if he trades him soon it would look great for Mitch also he is playing so great right now keeping him would be a good move. I personally think he will have no problem adjusting to the sf spot. It's not like he is a Charles Oakley type PF or even a real pf. He is a tweener who not only can play multiple positions he has played sf for years. Before he went to the Lakers he even said himself I don't want to play PF I am a sf. Add the fact that they have 2 7 footers to back him up and block shots.
Andrew Bynum is only 20 years old and was on his way to being an allstar. Assuming he is healthy next year which he probably will be with his work ethic his 1 lotto pick which was 10th is a superstar Center or soon to be superstar center and at least a star center with perfect size, skill, athletism, offense and defense. Kobe was picked from high school 13th pick and that was the biggest steal in history. Bynum is not gonna be the best player ever like Kobe or for arguements sake top 2 best players off alltime but Bynum will be easily a top 5 Center while he plays possibly the best Center (not of alltime but current). He could pass Ming imo and it is possible he could pass DHoward because even though Howard is more of a beast Bynum has got the moves and a higher bball IQ. Now to get a guy a Center like that at 10th pick is going to go down as 1 of the greatest alltime steals. The Kobe and Bynum steals will win the Lakers much championships. Kobe is the biggest draft steal ever but Bynum could end up the second biggest steal. If they did the draft over Bynum would go 1st or maybe Chris Paul goes first and Bynum goes second. It is very hard to compare a dominant Center to a dominant pg. Usually it's pretty easy but the positions makes it really hard.
(I know Mitch didn't draft Kobe)
Drafting Farmar was another brilliant move at 26 the Lakers got not only the position they needed but if the draft were to be done again he would have gone in the lotto for sure and possibly the top 10.
Critt was traded but at 19 he was a great choice. They also decided to keep Farmar over Critt and Critt is more talented so most would have kept Critt but he did the right thing because of there situation.
Now we know before the injury to Bynum the Lakers were beating teams by 20-30 points a game. If you throw in a superstar like Gasol and basically get him for free add 1 year to Bynum to make him 21 and now everybody is healthy (they all will be by next season) they will have gelled because Gasol is very smart and probably gets it already they will have the most dominant frontcourt plus the best player ever, plus the best coach and a pg who is up and coming who puts in all the hard work to try and become a star.
Now if this team is on pace to win 65-70 games which they clearly could the Lakers will be in first place by so much they could easily have 4 players in the allstar game and if that happens Mitch is brilliant and will be recongnized as such.
The only reason why my predictions of the Lakers numbers aren't higher is because they will not need to play the last 8 minutes of most games because of so many blowouts.
08/09
Bynum-32 minutes 18 points 11 rebounds 2.5 blocks
Gasol- 33 minutes 17 points 8 rebounds 4 assists 1.5 blocks
Odom- 33 minutes 14 points 9 rebounds 5.5 assists 1 block 1 steal
Kobe- 35 minutes 26 points 4.5 rebounds 6.5 assists 1 block 2 steals
Fisher- 26 minutes 9 points 3 rebounds 3 assists 1 steal
Farmar- 25 minutes 10 points 2 rebounds 3.5 assists 1.5 steals
Ronny- 22 minutes 7 points 5 rebounds 1.5 blocks
Radman- 24 minutes 10 points 4 rebounds
Walton- 25 minutes 8 points 4 assists 4 rebounds 1 steal
Sasha- 23 minutes 9 points 3 assists
Ariza- 18 minutes 7 points 3 rebounds 1.5 steals
Mihm,DJ,Newble,Karl don't really mean much to me and I don't know if they will be there next year.
I have a feeling next year they cppy the Celtics to keep Odom and get guys who want to win a championship and sign for less like Cassell and guys like Posey.
Wow I didn't mean for this post to end up being a 2000 word essay.

this would need to be the year. i can't see him pulling off another steal........i mean deal like the one for gasol next season. that was the best move of the year and it came when the lakers were starting to faulter after bynum's injury. i think it will go to ainge though

Well we could tecknically get Kirk if we would be willing to give up Odom which might not be a bad idea for the Lakers.

Why trade for Odom when his value is at an all time high for someone who's value is at an all time low? I admit its Hinrich but if they are as desperate as the press makes them sound to get rid of some guard contracts, we could low ball them to start with.

Hinrich isn't actually all that effective guarding 1's as he is at guarding 2's.
I'd take Chauncey as my triangle point all day.

Chauncey >>> Hinrich as a triangle point guard IMO. And Billups is the best triangle PG in the league.

Billups is the ultimate triangle PG. I've been hoping (and posting) for him to become a Laker since 2004, but I don't think it's gonna happen.
