I'm not a laker fan, but obviously if you love the NBA you know what's going on in LA. I have noticed that Bryant has been playing an awful lot of minutes the last few weeks. He's averaging about 42 minutes a game over the last 22.
Do you as lakers fans feel Coach Jackson doesn't give Bryant enough rest or is this a non issue?
Also next year would you like to see Bryant's minutes rationed a little more carefully?

without gasol and bynum, the lakers didn't really have a choice. i imagine lamar's minutes are up there too.

If the Lakers didnt have Kobe logging this minutes then we would not be 1.5 games out of 1st in the West. Its a tall order that Kobe does every night and while it would be nice for him to get some rest... we have been so beaten up ...we would be on the bubble if not out of the playoffs if it were not for Kobe's minutes.
Early in the season, when Kobe with Bynum they were able to get big leads and rest their players and when Kobe and Gasol were playing together they were getting the wins.
Its a lot of minutes, but needed...and I doubt Kobe is worried about it and he will still be ready to go come playoffs.

The Lakers and Kobe see an opportunity to win....this year. They are going all out. That is why the Lakers traded for Gasol and that is why Kobe is playing big minutes. It is out of neccesity (as Phil said) since they have had so many injuries. Without the key injuries to Ariza and Bynum,, I doubt Kobe plays this many minutes.

What I don't like about Phil is he never looks at Kobe's long term career. I wish we had a coach who did. A coach who would never have Kobe guarding the other teams best players like he did with MJ. I know he doesn't have Pippen but he could easily put Fisher on the 2 guard playing the Allen's and Wade's.
Phil should try and play Kobe 4 minutes less a game, he should have Kobe guarding weaker players and he who can talk people into things talk Kobe into not playing in the olympics.
I believe Mitch cares and that is why he picked up Newble to guard the better of the 2/3 but if Phil doesn't try and perserve Kobe and make his career years longer what can you do. There is no better coach out there so you can't fire Phil so that is just the way it is. It used to fustrate me to no end but I am starting to have faith in Mitch. We lost alot of games, games we shouldn't because Phil refused to bench Kwame and Mitch finally handled it.
I might be the minority here but I am hoping one of Phil's protoge's learned everything they needed to from Phil ala Van Gundy from Pat Riley and Phil retires soon and the new coach can take all the great things from Phil but lacks all of Phils shortcomings.

Kobe Bryant can not guard himself, unless, of course he wanted too.
