Just wanted to say i applaud kobe for holding back on these dumb refs lately. Does kobes technical situation carry on over to the playoffs or is this regular season thing? sorry if this has been asked before. Just want to know if kobe gets a clean slate to cuss referees out again in the playoffs.

If he gets one in last game it gets carried to next season. but not to playoffs.

The technicals in the regular season don't have anything with a suspension in the playoffs.

that is incorrect. if Kobe gets a tech in the last game of the season he will be suspended for the first playoff game, however, once he is in the playoffs he can have up to 7 more Ts before he gets another one game suspension.

I heard if it was on the last game it carries into next season and not the playoffs. That's what they said on one of the Lakre telecasts.

snaq im going to say thats incorrect. he will get suspended the first game of the next regular season and it would not affect the playoffs if he gets a technical against sacramento.

I've heard on the radio many times(Dan Patrick, Rome, the Cannons) that the suspension for a 16th T in the last game of the season is served in the in the first game of the playoffs. can somebody provide a link? i am curious now to find the truth.

its not 100% clear-cut but the fact that there are separate sections for the regular season and the playoffs would suggest that nothing carries over (fouls or suspensions accrued from the regular season)

Page 43:
a. The following progressive technical foul and ejection schedules will apply.

(1) REGULAR SEASON

sent when the violator reaches his 12th
technical foul)
Technical Foul 16: $2,500 fine plus one-game suspension
Each Additional Technical Foul: $2,500 fine
Each Two Additional Technical Fouls
(18, 20, 22, etc.): $2,500 fine plus one-game suspension

(2) PLAYOFFS
Technical Fouls 1-2: $1,000 fine each
Technical Fouls 3-4: $1,500 fine each
Technical Fouls 5-6: $2,000 fine each (with a warning letter

technical foul)
Technical Foul 7: $2,500 fine plus one-game suspension
Each Additional Technical Foul: $2,500 fine
Each Two Additional Technical Fouls

It is for a Playoff game. I remember a situation regarding Kenyon Martin back in 2002. Dude couldn't stop...

I tried to find a clear statement on that too and came up empty.

I would think that if you earn a game suspention it would be on your very next game reguardless if the T was earned in the season and then serve the suspension on a playoff game like I've been hearing on the radio, but at this point I don't know because I can't find anything concrete about it.

what i know for a fact is that the number of tech fouls do not carry over to playoffs, you start fresh.

I heard it carries on to the 1st game of next season, and i think it was our very own announcers that i heard that from (Joel and Stu)

Portland announcers laid out all the scenarios last game.

In the regular season you can have 16 techs before getting suspended. If you receive the 16th tech in the final game of the season, you will be suspended for the first regular season game next season.

When the playoffs start, you start over and get suspended on the 7th tech.
