Lamar Odom appreciation thread

Post#1 » by That Nicka » Sun Apr 13, 2008 10:19 pm

Dude has been BALLIN for about 3 months now... Has not been the same inconsistent player from the last 3 years... Has been doing whatever he has been asked to do, and playing great defense on post players and perimeter players as well... Mad props to Lamar

Ive been extremely impressed with his willingness to accept his role as a rebounder and defensive nuisance.

Or maybe that was just him and needed another offensive option over him?

Either way, he's been just as much of a factor as Gasol has in the Lakers' winning ways post-ASB.

His ability to drive has always been there, but with Gasol down low, its efficiency has grown exponentially.

Stay off the perimeter Js, and drive all day Lamar.

Much props. Keep it up.

I think its the fact that Lamar trust his teammates ability to score more then his own.

Hes more of a 2nd point guard out there. He's always asking to dribble the ball up court and has amazing vision. He doesnt finish as strong as I'd like but with someone who can (Gasol/Bynum) his game just flows.
Greatest comment I've ever received.

Forget the numbers, this is the best Lamar Odom has ever played. Aggression, focus, consistency, and yes even defense is now there. This is the package we all wanted to see in 2004. It has taken 4 years, but I think I can finally say I believe that LO is a changed man. He may prove me wrong and go back to 2004-2007 LO, but you know what, I'll take that chance and see what happens from here on out.

ODom is awesome, really stepping up. He's gonna be a huge factor how far we get in the post season.

What's most amazing to me is lately Lamar has been like 12/7.....in the first half. That's what we used to get from him in entire games for stretches of the year.

He is our X-factor. Our success relies on how aggressive Lamar is. He can change the nature of our team. Kobe is going to get his, Pau is solid, Fish is a rock this time of year...it's about Lamar Odom continuing his play.

Keep it up.

In that same vein, then no need to agree with iamworthy's post. It was over-obvious and as his name implies: he is worthy. No need for props from now on.

If this is the case we need to open a Kobe Appreciation and a Gasol Appreciation every game...give me a break. But we dont because thats thier job. I love the win and I love LO but the same people that praise LO is the same people that want him traded. Leave is simple, he had another great game, great job lamar. Thank you GASOL for making LO better.

With all honesty Lamar has been a better 2nd option than has Gasol after the trade that brought in Gasol. You really can not ask anything more from Lamar.

It's gotten to the point over the past two or three months that my only real beef with Lamar is when he settles for jumpers. (And considering how well he's shooting post-ASG, this is almost certainly nitpicking). Take away two or three misguided shots today, and he gave us exactly what we needed -- dominance on the defensive glass, good activity on D and aggressiveness on offense.

Those fade aways are still a strict no no and he has to learn his limitations, other than that, his movement off the ball, exploiting match ups and post up game has have been solid. Rebounding is obviously his best strength.

No Im not hating lamar. Look at my past post, I give this guy love. But I mean come on. The fact that there is a appreiciation thread thread really says you sucked in the past...its about time. LO has been playing good. Even Mitch didnt commit to LO past his OG contract. I expect this level of effort from LO. This is what Laker fans have expected for the last 3 years. Thats all Im saying.

The Mitch argument is weak. No GM would commit to a player knowing it would send us to salary cap hell without at least testing the team as a whole (and in the playoffs).

That's the business. It's evidence of nothing.
