I wouldn't mind picking up this guy for cheap as the Lakers back up center. He's a poor mans Camby who needed time to develop but wasn't given a chance in the NBA level. I dont think DJ will return, maybe as 14th or 15th if anything, and I believe Mihm's expiring contract will be traded away.

SCOUTING REPORT SUMMARY:
O'Bryant is a raw big man with tremendous length, including a wingspan that has been measured over 7-foot-5. He is a decent athlete and has good mobility for a big man. He is not solid in his box-outs and gets pushed around a bit, but he has long arms and is a high-volume rebounder. In addition, he was a great shot-blocker in college, averaging 2.9 per game his last season in Bradley.

lakers need a backup center with actual experience and at least some skills. POB brings neither.

We still have Mihm and I really doubt he's gonna opt out in the summer.

POB is a bust. He doesn't deserve to be in the NBA. Career D leaguer probably.

With Bynum and Pau, I really do not see a lot of time for a project backup. Maybe a cheap one with one of the 2 second round picks. POB might be making more than what a new second round pick will be getting, so not a real big need. I like DJ's game. He is solid and runs the floor OK. I look at him first before I look at any others.

On a need of 1 to 10. Backup center is about a 8. One being of my importance.

Mihm is going to be the backup C next season I don't expect DJ to be resigned. When Ronny is resigned he'll be the third C next to being the main backup PF.

O'Bryant's a traditional center in the wrong system. Should the Lakers carry over all of their centers from this year there's no room for POB. Even if Mbenga or Mihm are gone O'Bryant probably won't get the playing time he needs to improve his game. He doesn't have enough experience to give him the backup C job if both Mihm and Mbenga are gone.

For some team that needs size he could be worth a two-year BAE deal at best.

We'll get what we need for the MLE. We don't need any more youth or unproven talent. Give me a veteran backup.

Probably less than that. I would say that based on what he's done (or hasn't done) in Memphis and the fact that everyone thinks he's completely useless, we should offer him $2-3 mil per year. He'd make a great backup to Bynum, and he's shown that he can play when it counts (playoffs). If the team expects to get better defensively then they should make it a point to go after defensive-minded players, and I can't think of anyone better (or cheaper) than Kwame at the moment.

The Return of the Mihm has failed miserably, and MBenga is not here for the long run. Watching Turiaf play center leaves much to be desired, so we really do need to go after a solid backup center so that we can leave Pau at PF full-time.
