This is just my opinion. I thought last night was the most balanced game Kobe has ever played while still on fire in the same game. In the past if he came out hot and knocked down multiple shots in a row lke that, he would continue to shoot even when double and triple teamed. He did that during his streak in 2002/2003 when he went for 40 points 9 straight games.

Last night was different. Kobe came out aggressive and on fire, but once the defense made some adjustments and started double teaming him, he picked the Nuggets apart with his passing. Then he finished the game off aggressive and put the Nuggets away.

It wasn't just shoot, shoot and more shooting. It was a very balanced game for Kobe. To me his most balanced game ever as a Laker while on fire at the same time.

It was one of his best games. Another game I think he played close to flawlessly was the Memphis game where he dropped 56 points in 3 quarters and sat out the 4th. Attacked the basket every single time he saw a crease. And he was being guarded by Shane Battier in that game to boot.

49 and 10 is amzaing, didn't shoot it every time even though he could have and scored a whole lot more points, he was playing for the win and its good to see that kobe appears to really want to succeed in the playoffs

He has been a Laker for 12 years. You are going to have to reference something against it.

I'm just glad to find out he wasn't shouldering any major injuries.

you'll be surprised to find out how well Kobe finds the open man when our team moves w/o the ball or set screens for each other.

this is an excellent observation. and i would add its all about "READING" the defense. previously he wouldnt even give the guys a 2nd look. but he has become really sharp in the reading of the D. this makes the passing offense employed by jax almost impossible to defend.

i would also say that with shaq, we were power up the middle. but it became like a immovable light house. but with gasol and the movement of lamar, the parts away from kobe are constantly shifting and moving. very very difficult to stop all of the movement and motion in the offense. gasol can also post. pop from the free throw line. bunny in the middle of the key. and with kobes reads, we are clicking.

WHen the offense is executed well and players make the cuts off the ball, the triangle is one of the best offense to watch and Kobe is amazing in the facilitator role in this scenario.

Another thing to note is that he didn't get too many if not any shots in the post/elbow region, where he's lethal.

great point. In recent years I always thought the reason Kobe was always so deadly in the post season was because he went to his post-game on a lot of possessions. It actually suprises every offseason because he always pulls so many things out of his repetoire that I haven't seen for most of the year; and these aren't just moves he's learned but they're moves he's a mastered. Kmart takes away Kobe's post advantage, but Kobe has so many weapons in his arsenal.

I'd say 49 and 10, shooting 66% is pretty fantastic for a two-guard.

During the last two years, Kobe has had a few games similar to this one (on "the next level"), but he was off the hook in that last game. Remarkable performance. Perfect balance of scoring and passing and his shot selection was pure perfection. He was dissecting their "defense" like a surgeon. What a performance.

No doubt in my mind who should get the MVP. Watch him go off tomorrow as well.

Here's a though BS, Maybe Kobe started passing because he actually has teammates now who cut and move off the ball? Maybe he has competent teammates around him.

Instead of looking at Kobe, you might want to look at the players outside of Kobe. Kobe is only responding to his teammates play.
