first of all...
CONGRATU*UCKINLATIONS TO ALLLLLL THE LAKER FANS ON A 1ST ROUND SWEEP!!!!!!!!!!!
theres an 87% chance of the lakers facing the jazz in the 2nd round...
pg-fisher
sg-kobe
sf-radmanovich
pf-odom
c-gasol
vs
pg-williams
sg-korver
sf-kirilenko
pf-boozer
c-okur
believe it or not, the jazz match up against up pretty evenly
i think its basically going to boil down to this-
CAN OUR POINT GUARDS CONTAIN DERON WILLIAMS?
im confident that lamar odom and pau gasol will easily handle boozer and okur..boozer is a strong guy, but i think jackson's gona have lamar guard him instead of gasol. gasol will be sticking to the softer mehmet okur.
kirilenko doesnt scare me...i dont think he will have a big series against us. luke walton and vladimir radmanovich will do a decent job containing him....
the problem lies here- will derek fisher and jordan farmar be able to hang with deron williams? i think this is the "make-or-break-series-deciding-factor."
kobe will definately hold his own and put up the 30+ppg every game.
ultimately my prediction is- LAKERS IN 6
(side note: 2 all time great coaches phil jackson vs jerry sloan)

I doubt Bynum will be back until the championship game,
But Ariza will definitely be back to guard Deron.

Ariza should be back, and we move on to face our 2nd round opponent when the Jazz win their series, now the real fight starts

Ariza coming back.. not yet 100% but still a huge help to our squad.
its all about
Defence vs. Defence now

Lets get some links before we start saying who comes back. We do need some length gaurding deron, he loves to burn people with his silky cross overs and not speed. Ariza will definately get time gaurding him if he is back, otherwise it wouldnt suprise me if Phil tries kobe or jordan on him. I think kobe would want the challenge of deron. Boozer is the key for utah, odom loves foul trouble and vlad will get torched every time he tries to d him up.

Lakers big fav IMO....you got to look at Kobe vs. Deron w/ consistent scoring and kobe gonna own in a series...plain and simple.......lamar and boozer a saw off....Vlad and AK saw off on offence so it's Pau vs. okur adv lakers and kobe vs deron lakers adv....not to mention....Sasha...luke... j far.....ronnie........ additons....could be quick one.....lakers in 5 ....intangibles from D fish threes will over welme brewer .... and millsap can't hold up vs lakeshow and depth.....
dont' need Ariza or Bynum for this rd or nxt rd vs. NWO IMO
spurs gonna get punked by NWO
.......lakeshow show dwn...w/ NWO
and for that matter go HAWKS

I think Jackson has so many different weapons to throw at the Jazz. Our bench is playing very well that I don't think the Jazz' starting 5 will be able to sit that much without losing ground. Lakers in 6

deron williams will be a nightmare to guard.
i believe on our length to give trouble to boozer.
but we will still need to get everyone on the glass!
so 2 things.
clamp down on deron.
AND EVERYONE CRASH THE BOARDS!

deron williams will do to us in 2008 what mike bibby had done to us in 2001/2002
i wouldnt be surprised if jerry sloan pulls out some old laker tapes of the kings vs lakers matchups and shows deron step by step, how to burn the lakers backcourt.
the kings were successful with it....
and we dont have robert horry anymore either
step up lamar.
step up pau.
step up kobe.
step up fish.
step up vlad.
step up jordan.
step up ronny.
step up luke.
step up sasha.
step up dj.
step up trevor.
step up andrew.
step up chris.
step up coby.
coach em phil.

Lakers in 6... maybe 5

We'll destroy them ! We'll crush them ! We'll wipe them out and won't let anything behind !
Go Lakers !
I also don't see any advantage for Utah with their home record. That's playoffs ! Regular season records don't have any importance anymore ! Look what the Hawks did to Boston !

Noice !
Stay focused, keep executing, play tough D and pound it inside !
Kill the Jazz !

I think the Lakers will win in 6 games also. I think the real finals is the 3rd round assuming the Lakers win the Jazz series and I believe they will. The Pistons and Celtics are letting the Hawks and Sixers take it to them. I am no longer afraid of the Celtics and never was the Pistons so the real finals will be the 3rd round which will be the Lakers vs Spurs again. I can't believe everybody forgot the Spurs again.

I dont think anyone "forgets" about them their just so boring to watch/talk about. Personally i don't think their boring at all. But I am looking foward to Hornets/Spurs. We'll really get to see what CP3 is made of...

please don't say that again, that used to be the Suns board slogan for the past 3 years.

Best Home Record? Bleh! I still remember when the Lakers went into Utah the last time. They completely owned the Jazz!
After booing Fish upon his return to Utah and some stupid Jazz fan throwing a beverage on the court (at Kobe), I think the Lakers still have this "chip on their shoulder" attitude. This will serve them well in the second round.
Furthermore, This is not the Kobe's first rodeo. He and the rest of the Lakers know that this will be a key series to take if they really want to make a push for the NBA Finals.
Anyway, lets hope that Houston extends the series a bit more. That will give Andrew and Trevor more time to heal up, and will give some of our other guys a chance to rest their legs.
