This is if you have to make moves for whatever reason.

Meaning you can be the GM and coach and control every move they make. Lets say Phil retired and he was not an option.

I would be the GM/Coach and my first move would be to hire Kenny Smith to be my assistant coach and gm and I say him because I believe Marc Jackson is already taken it just hasn't been made official.

I would realize that the Lakers are the 1st or 2nd or for arguement's sake a top 5 alltime team in any sport, they make more money then anybody or almost anybody in the league and I would not worry about the luxary tax. I would try and be like the Yankees and spend whatever it takes.

I would keep the Lakers assistant coaches to teach Kenny Smith and myself the triangle and I would keep the triangle offense.

The Lakers lineup now is

Bynum,Gasol,ODOM,Kobe,FISHER,Farmar,Ronny,RADMAN,KARL,WALTON,DJ,Sasha,IRA,ARIZA,MIHM

Odom

for

RJ

I would have him to be the guy who can be a point forward, can be the defensive guy for them to guard all the Lebron's and chase around the Ray Allen's and Rip's. He would be the guy who can drive and penetrate so Kobe doesn't have to everytime. His job is to not only be a 15-20 point a game scorer but he is there to make Kobe's life easier. He is also a true gamer and a playoff expierence vet who is healthy.

Fisher and Walton

For

Kirk Hinrick-

I would have said last year this trade is unrealistic but with Fisher balling out of control and with the Bulls needing a Luke type player and Kirk only averaging 11 which is the same what Fish did with less time it's fair.

I would be trading for Kirk also for Kobe. With Kirk on the Lakers Kobe can guard the weakest of the 1-2-3 spot. If the weakest player is a pg Kobe guards the pg, if the weakest is a 3 then Kobe guards the sf and RJ takes the tough 2. Kirk would bring up the ball and RJ would bring it up when Kirk is playing off the ball. That leaves us with Kirk-Kobe-RJ-Gasol-Bynum which is possibly the best starting lineup ever espially if Kirk regains his form.

Trade #3

Ariza and Mihm

For Carney and Evans

Carney still has potential imo and is a healthier version of Ariza. His game is different but he can play that role for us. Reggie Evans is a complete bust on D and O but his rebounds are incredible.

Trade #4

Radman, Karl, Ira and 3 second round picks
For
Ricky Davis

The Heat might say no to this deal but it's possible. Ricky Davis never gets the credit he deserves. With the right coach (me and Kenny) and the right players like Kobe he could really keep his head on straight and give us a great bench. With my Lakers winning him and Farmar will make a hell of a great bench. Also there will be plenty of minutes with Kobe only playing 30 minutes or so and Ricky will be a great 3 point shooter for us.

My result (and this was all of the top of my head so if I thought about it more it would be a little better)

The starting lineup and rotation

Bynum
Gasol
RJ
Kobe
Kirk

Second team Bench

DJ Menga- 10 minutes or so
Ronny- 8 minutes at C and 10 at PF
Davis- All of the minutes Kobe is sitting which is about 15 plus when RJ is sitting another 10 to give him about 25.
Sasha- give him backup mins at all 3 peremiter positions
Farmar- I would play him all the backup pg mins some sg mins and I would do alot of 3 guard lineups to get him a good 28 minutes.
Carney- He would get 12-15 minutes
Evans-I give him about 15 minutes of burn or when we are getting really outrebounded or we are going with 3 guards and Bynum to make up for the boards.


So if I had complete control of the Lakers (this is what I would do if forced to make moves).


Another thing I might do is alot more simple,

Trade Tyrus,Noc,Gorden for Odom

Noc-Tyrus
Kobe

That would be a good team to.

I would also hire JVG as my defensive coach.

It's kinda dirty to trade Fish, knowing his situation/circumstances for coming here.

Kenny Smith?

Thats why "GM's" like you fail at their job. Changing up most of the roster means loss of team chemistry and thats a big set back for any teams. The only trade that I would really agree with is Odom for Tyrus, Nocioni and Gordon. I even be willing to throw in Mihm and Radman and a (2) 2nd rounder in that trade because we get 3 guys who excellent young talents and really play their positions well. Our lineup would be

Bynum - Mbenga
Gasol - Tyrus - Ronny
Nocioni - Ariza - Walton
Bryant - Sasha
Gordon - Fisher - Farmar

With this linup the lakers would be unstoppable

This is if i HAD NO OTHER CHOISE as GM and i had to trade LO. But i would like to see LO stick with the Lakers. Cut guys like Newble, Mihm, Karl and sign someone at the C/PF position with all the money those 3 are making.

I'd ask Jerry Buss a whole lot of questions and for a whole lot of advice...

I'd take all the millions I made, buy RealGM, and lock this thread.

I cant say what our team would look like, cause it takes 2 WILLING teams to complete a trade. But lets say for instance Lamar didnt want to take a paycut and Bynum wanted a Max deal. I would target GWallace,Iggy or Deng in a trade with Lamar and Farmar as the main pieces. I would also do everything in my power to dump Luke or Vlad, I would much rather have Trevor as my 1st swingman off the bench.

Well I would only trade Odom for RJ if I had complete control but in the begining of my post I said if you had to make moves. Obviously the Lakers are possibly the best team in the league so they don't need to make moves and I know that. I am not stupid.
I am saying if you had complete control or control in every aspect except you had to make changes what would you do. I should have said if you could only keep 5 or so Lakers and had to lose Phil and Mitch what would you do.

I am just trying to make a fun post and see how creative you guys are and what players you would want. This post is just sopposed to be for fun. I know we have a great squad and no moves need to be made except getting a reliable defensive wing.

I know the chemistry would be messed up but I said if you had to change the team because this post is just for fun.

Kenny Smith is pretty damm smart and he explains the game as well as the Zar imo and in the last couple of years has been on his game.

Ricky Davis is not a cancer imo. I think even if he was he wouldn't be on the bench. All you want from the bench is instant offense and that is what he is.

Why would you give Karl more minutes? He doesn't seem very good to me. Carl Laundry is a pretty good move. Pargo would probably be hard to get and kind of not that useful considering we have Fish and Farmar.

1) I'd work on getting Sun Yue with the team. We already have 2 solid PG's, but Fisher is aging and it doesn't hurt to have another young padawan in development. He'll start by getting some D-League action so he doesn't waste away on the bench, then slowly start getting minutes over the next couple of seasons as Fisher gets less.

2) Draft a C and SG in the upcoming draft. I don't expect that we'll get much because we won't have a high draft pick for a while, but you never know.

3) Resign Kwame for $2-3 million as a backup to Bynum, with plans on letting Mihm go after next season. This is highly dependent on what MBenga does the rest of this season, as he's impressed me more than a few times and may be the best choice as a backup.

4) Trade Lamar Odom to Houston for Shane Battier and Bobby Jackson. Battier gives us an excellent perimeter defender that can help space the floor, while Jackson comes in as an expiring after 08-09. Odom gives Houston another play-maker (much needed) and great rebounder.

5) Resign Turiaf starting off at around $2 million.
