Never been happier about not trading for KG

PG > KG in playoffs.

okay i might get flamed for that one... but seriously considering what we gave up for pau gasol and what we would have to give up for kevin garnett... I am extremely happy at how lakers turned out... especially after watching boston lose today to atlanta.

Looks like Kwame Brown fumbled the Big Ticket.

Garnett is a loser.

I absolutely love KG, but he's just not a go-to offensive player. It's his one glaring flaw, and it really hurts when his team is in dire need of a basket. He'll get the odd clutch basket, but you can't ride him like you would a Bryant, a Shaq or even a Duncan.

I would have been all for getting KG and I think we all would have been happy. However, if there was option ( B/G ) and you were to tell me that Bynum would breakout and we would land Gasol for Kwame then I would say KG-- who?

the thing is, bynum/odom/kwame/picks wasn't even good enough for kg.

I'm just saying... people thought with a good team KG would have elevated his game in the playoffs... but right now I think pau gasol is playing just as well as pau stepped up and kg is still playing regular season basketball right now

You are out of your freaking mind if you think Pau Gasol is better than KG....whether it is in the playoffs of not. Stop being a homer. Garnett's defensive ability is so far beyond Gasol's that it isn't even funny. Gasol isn't even an All-Star caliber player anymore...KG is a 1st team NBA type of player.

individually no i dont think pau is better than kg... but kg hasn't stepped up to playoff energy... he's still the same player as the regular season.. however pau gasol has stepped up his play in the playoffs... in the regular season i would never say pau is anywhere close to KG

KG has greater defense than Pau. But Pau is only 27 while KG is turning 32 in a couple of weeks. Meaning we could have the Bynum/Pau Frontcourt for a long long long time. Pau is just hitting his prime, so he could get even better. The young age of our team and skill level is a BLESSING that we should all be thankful for that Kupchak was able to put together. Hopefully this thing doesn't turn into a Kobe Shaq dynasty and get destroyed a couple years early due to egos. We have two dynasties in the making here. One with Kobe Pau Bynum and Lamar with Kobe being the leader. Then when he retires, we have a Bynum lead team with an aging Pau at 4, and Farmar running the point. We are truly blessed to be in this position.

all i know is kobe has him playing like an allstar, and kg's defense is a little overrated. who has he shutdown? he couldn't stop the hawks.

Gasol is definitely an all-star caliber player.

And, KG is one of the greatest power forwards to have played the game.

True, dropping three games to the Hawks makes KG an easy target as of this moment.

But, imo, it's not so much what the Celtics aren't doing but what the Hawks are doing. They're playing out of their minds, as a collective unit, such camaraderie, focus on a singular purpose, especially the role players such as Childress, Pachulia, and Williams. It's remarkable, and it's genuinely inspiring.

None of that takes away from KG though. He is who he is. He never was a legit go-to guy, and he seemed to fade down the stretch. But we all knew that already, which is why he would have been a good fit with the Lakers and Kobe. We needed his consistent, elite defense, rebounding, ability to hit that midrange shot, and be a leader with his passion for the game. Kobe would have supplied the rest.

Not really a knock on Pau, though. Pau's just a different player, one who enables us to become a dominant offensive team, and it's beautiful to watch. No, he's not the defender that KG is, he gets pushed around sometimes and his rebounding is somewhat disappointing, but he's a good shotblocker if not an intimidating one.

I'm thrilled, silly-happy with Pau, but I don't see the need to diminish what kind of player KG is to enhance my love for PG.

if you ask me who i would want right now, I will take PG over KG.

KG looks weak in the playoffs

The problem with the Celtics-Hawks serie is that the big three are too unselfish. It seems to me that all three of them are so focused on sharing the ball and get everyone involved instead of trying to take control of the game by themselves. Pierce, Allen and KG can destroy a team like Atlanta by themselves, and yet the three of them combined can't get the job done.

pau fits better with lakers and hes younger
