Kobe Bryant won the MVP on Tuesday and he couldn't be happier being a member of the Lakers, which is the opposite of how he felt this time last year.

"I would like to, absolutely," Bryant said when asked if he'd like to finish his career with the Lakers.

Kobe also had praise for Mitch Kupchak, who orchestrated the Pau Gasol trade.

"It's nice to hear he's happy with the group of players that's surrounding him," Kupchak said. "It's even more (pleasing) to see that we have the best record in the West. And it's most profound to hear that he wants to be a Laker for the rest of his career."

Bryant also made a surprising admission.

"To be perfectly honest with you, I'm nervous," he said. "I usually don't get nervous, but I'm nervous. It's been one hell of a year, starting with the summer, coming into training camp and us being able to make improvements and to watch the development of our young players and watch us step into that elite level and then, ultimately, winning the Western Conference.

"It's been an emotional roller coaster. It's been a heck of a journey."

Well you heard yourself .

All I can say is here's to a new Dynasty .

when asked if he was a kobe man or a shaq man, jack nicholson said, I'M A LAKER MAN!

KOBE is a great player. but not any greater than kareem, magic, shaq, etc . . .

i personally dont care about players, because they ultimately come and go. but the LAKER franchise endures. and it is the main sole important point to me in the big picture. the LAKER organization, this team and its championships, all of that . . . is the bottom line. and all of these GREAT players play their role in keeping that legacy alive!

kobe may go on one of his tirades again, and asked to be traded. GO AHEAD, LEAVE!! this organization will survive. and believe this, we will find the next great player to play for this organization. and we will win again.

It is a win-win situation for both parties. Lakers want Kobe to stay and Kobe wants to be Laker nothing.

what scared me is what Brian Shaw said of Kobe's ultracompetitiveness. If we dont make it to the Finals and win this year, Kobe might go off again like he did last summer.

Personally, I dont see him demanding another trade, but I can see him being incredibly disappointed/pissed off.

I understand your sentiment, but if you "personally dont care about players", I wonder if you appreciate at all how hard these remarkable individuals work to bring you that sense of entitlement.

It came off more as a joke to me. I think Shaw was emphasizing his competitiveness and desire to win, not that Kobe would demand a trade again.

And Kobe already said even without a championship this year, he feels the direction of the team is now good and correct, that he likes the quality of talent around him, that he's going to war adequately equipped.

I think some of you are missing the issue. Kobe wanted a chance to win. With the likes of Kwame and Smush starting, he didn't feel he had a chance. Now, with Gasol and improved players, he feels he does.

That's the main difference between now and last summer.

I think many of you have somehow missed the exuberance Kobe has shown regarding his current situation. He's never looked this happy, even when we were winning rings with Shaq.

As Shaw said, Kobe never bonded with his then-teammates as closely he is doing with teammates now.

I think casting doubts whether Kobe returns is searching for a cloud on a sunny day. This is a good time for Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. This is a good time for Laker fans.

Let's enjoy it.
