Ariza Out!!!

The Lakers had hoped to have Ariza available at some point over the weekend. They moved his CT Scan up a day from Friday, anticipating he'd be cleared.

Unfortunately the bone still isn't 100% and he's out for the rest of Jazz series. He'll get another scan in a couple of weeks.

The Lakers have just not had any luck when it comes to the injuries of Andrew Bynum and Ariza.

There's not much that can be done on Ariza's behalf. There's no magic rehab program that will get the bone to fuse at a faster pace.

Bad news for the Lakers. I was hoping he would get some time in in this series so he would be ready for the next one if we advance. We are going to need him to contain the likes of CP3, Manu, Tony Parker, etc.

Plus we are doing just fine , at this point of the playoffs ...Honestly .
Even if Bynum and Ariza is cleared to play ......... I wouldnt and I know Dam well P.J wouldnt play Bynum or Ariza , cause this team is Floating really nice together .
And why taking a risk of reinjuring these guys so late in the season.
Let them heal and hopefully they'll be ready for next year .

I mean we have gone further than most ever expected .
So the Chip is the goal , but NEXT YEAR .............

The thing that worries me with these injuries are not the injuries themselves. The fact that Ariza and Bynum can't contribute means that the likes of Kobe, Lamar and Gasol have to play more minutes. More minutes means more risk. It would suck if something happened at the last seconds of a game, where two of them could be sitting on the bench. Unjinx, there you go.

Honestly I think Ariza's not going to be resigned ... I mean with his injuries and all .
I never knew of Ariza until the Lakers singed him , and one good post that Phil 2.0 brought up when we traded for him .
The trade that brought Ariza to LA was simply dumping Cooks contract to sign a all star caliber player which I believe it was Pau and I think it served its purpose .
So with that being said and his injuries I highly doubt that Ariza's going to be a Lakers next year .
It sucks cause I was really looking forward seeing him contribute to this team with his defensive skills.

Ariza was one of my favorite players in the league before we got him. I used to hate watching him play great defense on Kobe. He used to be a serious threat to Kobe's offensive efficiency.

Whenever he's healthy, we should make sure to keep him around. The guy did a great job defending KG, right before he was traded from Orlando. We all know what he did to Iverson in that 51 point game in Denver. I believe AI had 49 before the fourth. Ariza held him to 2 points in the fourth quarter.

Ariza is our shut-down man. We'll need him. Who else in this league can guard positions one through four? Not many.

Now, if he spends the entire summer working on his outside shot with hodges, watch out. Right now, he's an outstanding slasher. With a solid perimeter shot, his slashing will be extremely hard to stop.

He's young, too. If he gets 100% healthy, we need to keep him on this roster. We'll need his defense against LBJ, Pierce, KG, CP3, TP and all other swingmen of the league so that Kobe can prolong his career.

Agreed; he fills a great role on this team that Luke (passing) and Radman (shooting) simply cannot provide.. assuming he stays healthy..

I definitely want to keep him, but I'm just saying it's a risk to commit too much money or length of contract.

I think he's a better option than making a risky move like Artest, even if Artest would take the same money.

Its a chance we can and cant take , since we have a few contracts coming up , Bynum , Sasha , Ronny , Ariza ......... And there will be a lot of good offers on the table for these guys .
Now that these guys are doing good , you know a lot of the teams have taken notice and when these players come from P.J's camp , everyone knows that they arent headaches ( A.I . Melo . Artest etc) .
That they are role players , and well disciplined .
I mean P.J to me is a breader , who basically can take lets say a pitbull and train him to be a house pet or take a PUG and make him into a guard dog .............. but you get my point .

Just an update: Gumbygdl from CL (confirmed insider) has said that Ariza was actually cleared by the Utah doctor and will seek a second opinion. He can still make it for the WCF or even this round should it get extended to 6 or 7 games. So there is still some hope.

That's why sweeping this series is a must , if they can do then do it. That way we can watch the Hornets and Spurs bust each other's heads for like the next week while we lay in the weeds with the ambush in Game 1.

This give Trev enough time to heal and then maybe practice.
