What they are saying is Odom and Farmar for Melo

I just dont see how Melo can work in our system here

we dont need another player that demands the ball. odom fits this team perfectly. no need to experiment with something that has doubts

I dont know thats a good one, the only reason to pass on this would be if Odom agreed to take a slight paycut when he is about to re-sign his contract.

Melo is younger, has tremendous upside and is certainly more of a traditional SF than Odom is.

My guess is it would be too good a deal for Mitch/Buss to pass up on.

I can't believe I am saying this, but I would do it.

Sure, Melo plays no D, demands the ball, has a tendency to have a poor attitude, can question authority, can disrupt a locker room, BUT...

all these things can be fixed.

The guy has unlimited potential and with the proper environment (which he has never really had in Denver) I think he can be molded into a true superstar.

I have always like Melo's game, I just always felt like he needed better mentors. He would flourish under Phil/Kobe.

I know Melo is much more marketable, but Melo and the Lakers are on the opposite extremes. The only reason why we are so good now is that we move the ball, on the other hand with Melo the ball will not move. On top of that he is not the best defender

Next year we'll have 2 7footers and A 6'10 Odom, all 3 have long arms and will be a force inside. All 3 can grab 10 rebounds on any given night. we already average 108ppg and have 4 legit scoring options.

Melo may be the better player but not for this team.

If we didn't have members who trolled other boards we'd avoid these topics.

huh? sorry about how that came off, I just hate seeing all of our fans on other boards talking down on people. Not saying you do that but what good can come from this topic? we just played denver and 95% of our fans showed their dislike/hate for him. And now a trade for him? I don't know.

Isnt that what we want all this time , and now that he has fitted into a system and he's contributing so much to this team , I wouldnt just throw him out there for Melo .........
I dont know , its hard but I would stick with Lamar , specailly when Bynum comes back ...........

Well were going to have the Triple Towers .Bynum , Pau , L.O that's three big men that can play the post and play D .
With Lamar being able to take you off the drible , with Pau's shooting , passing skills , and with Bynums growth and maturity in the Paint .
Dam Im excited , but I would'nt do this trade unless we can have the N.O Mascot set the Nuggets Mascot on fire ............

okay so our small forward rotation can look like Melo, Ariza, Luke, Radman (insert your SF order here)...

we only take melo if they take luke and/ or radman...

also... sure melo can play SF... but he cant play power like odom can... I like the dynamic odom creates when he's on the floor... maybe management does too? we'll see

kobe and melo have worked really well together in team USA... i definitely would do this even though I really love odom. Age is a big factor as it sets the lakers on a solid SF for many years and I wouldn't judge how a player plays in one system and say he doesn't fit into another system. A very good passing team would only excel what melo does best which is score. Imagine how many great looks melo would get and he'll be shooting the lights out and getting more and more attention which only opens up gasol, bynum, and kobe up even more... not only that he now has a big brother that can set him straight a bit... i don't think his past should be a factor as most would welcome artest to the team knowing that artest would have good influences around him.

I'll keep Odom. We already have a ball-champion in Kobe Bryant. I want nothing else.

Melo plays no defense.
Although he can be a brilliant scorer, he has difficulty playing within the confines of even a wide-open offensive system, like Denver's, let alone our structures, disciplined triangle offense.
He would not fit in with our offensive or defensive schemes.

It is a tempting thought, but I'd definitely pass, even more so considering Odom has finally found his niche in our system.

I think kobe would want that. He did call melo his favorite player in the league after the series. Carmelo is just in the wrong situation playing behind iverson. A player of his caliber should play behind a veteran that can show him how to win. I also dont think george karl has the command over his players. I definitely recognized it in the series and they are just not on the same page

You have to do it and treat it like a stock. If you weren't aloud to trade Odom and Melo after the deal then no but you can so you wait a little while and you basically flip him like a stock. Melo has superstar juice if you will.

If you guys want Arenas why not him? What's the difference on the court? I think Melo is troubled but he is smart enough to defer to Kobe but Arenas isn't or at least is to insane to realize it.

Besides Phil has worked with worse and made more with it.
If you like the deal or not you have to make it and unless your trading AI if your the Nuggets you have to trade Melo also.

Melo is so young that even if this experiment doesn't work out, we can always sell him and get as good a value as we can for Odom.
