Is it me or I find this years lights out at the Staple center a Joke .
I mean for starters .
Home court advantage is the key for having total of 4 games in your home and the first two is in your court ......Right ?

Okay seeing how , and props to the Jazz fans ... well for the ones that are actually civilized with class and dont stoop down to lowclass acts during the game with blowup dolls and hand gestures , but I give them props since they are loud and supportive .
So I ask myself , why is it that me as a Laker fan cant even see the crowd at the staple center .
Seriously I could give a hoot about Jack and Bechkim and BillyBob though Jack is a Laker but what about the fans that pay the 400 to 500 dollar tickets up there in Cloud nine .
I mean you cant even see anyone during the game , you cant see the fans like we use to at the Forum or even before THE LIGHTS DID GO OUT ...
Where everyones screaming and yelling and cheering one and other .
All you hear is a sound of people clapping and screaming .
I persoanlly think its a Joke specially now that you have other fans from other boards that are claiming Staples center is amplifying the sound at the Staple Center .
To me this is seriuosly taking the true fan away from the game ....
And its simple cause you cant see ISH .
Somethimes it looks like only the front 10 rows is sold out .
I dont like the whole lights out concept and as a fan I think it needs to change for the love of the True fan , the true crowds .
Its basically making us look to Hollywood and not the Lakers .

Do you go to the games to see the fans or to see the game?

Lights Out was supposed to be intimidating for the visiting teams. Dark with emphasis only on the court. Only if Staples had a louder crowd.

Staples isn't as bad as some fans claim. You'll know what I mean if you actually go to a playoff game at staples. It's rocking for sure. It just doesn't look like that on tv because we can't really see the crowd anymore due to the lights out. Also, ESA is set up different. The crowd is really close to the court, so the fans are basically on top of you. At staples, the fans are angled farther away instead of upward. I've never liked the lights out look though. I've always liked to be able to see the crowd go crazy, especially when they choose to stand up and cheer crazily during important parts of the game. We should do away with the lights out theme.

lights out is different than it was last year. last year it was simply a jury-rigged system of lights. this year they are permanant, but now there are about twice as many as last year. with that many extra lights, it really has lost a lot of the effect. i mean there is so much mroe light in the crowds this year than last year, it almost like it was before they put it in.

I think the lights should be on a dimmer, sensitive to the amount of noise. For example, if the crowd reaches a certain decibel level, it gets brighter. It would encourage fans to get louder, if only to validate their own presence.

It would be freaking sweet, because when the Lakers are on the free throw line, the crowd gets dim since they're hushed, and this allows the player to focus.

On the other hand, the crowd would go crazy booing the opponents on the line, and they'd have to shoot with bright lights, and all the distractions illuminated.

It would also be sweet when we win the game, or Kobe hits a gamewinner, then the entire Staples Center would light up like we're on the surface of the sun. People's faces will start melting, it would be awesome.

Perhaps the Lakers blowing the game wide open for the majority of the 48 minutes had something to do with the noise level... but I do wish that the crowd would be more into it and I'm sure we'll see a different Staples on Wednesday, since we have to defend homecourt to advance. But the Jazz really have an awesome crowd, I think that's almost impossible to achieve in Staples .

just my two cents, I've never been there and probably never will so I'm going just by what I see/hear on TV.

I've actually attended a game in Utah, and I'd have to say that it's more the arena that gives the illusion of intimidation. Utah fans are idiots for the most part...first hand experience, many examples that I won't get into.

There are two different L.A. fans at Staples Center. There is your regular season crowed which is obviously more subdued. But I had the honor of attending the 2nd game of the 03-04 first round playoff against the Houston Rockets, and let me just tell you that the crowd was off the chain. Everyone from the lower deck to the upper bowl was nuts. If you would have put that crowd in the Utah arena it would equal the decibel level that you seen today.

It'd be wonderful to hear MVP chants in the Energy solutions arena when we're done with the Jazz!

I mean isnt that the whole concept of H.C.A .
When the opposing team is shooting their F.T you do want to see the crowd involved in it .
And to a few posters that ask me if I have gone to a game at the staple center ........Yes I have , and I have to admit , it does get loud but its different when you can actually see the crowd involved in the game , than just having the sound of it ..........
