Ainge wins EOY for the turn around that Boston experienced from last season to this season.

No big deal for me... he deserved it.

to be fair, while I was mad at first, I think Danny deserves it with the multi faceted plan and.... wait screw that. Kevin McFail should have gotten half of Ainges award. Boo.

There's homerism and then there's homerism. Boston had the greatest turnaround in the history of the NBA.

Not only did Boston have the biggest turn around in NBA history, they got a former MVP and multi-time allstar without giving up their franchise player. KG & Allen>>>>>>Fish and Pau.

Well, I still maintain that Kupchak was mostly lucky with the Pau thing. So was Fish, out of tragic circumstances. One could see it as Fish choosing us.

And other than Fish and Pau, our team improved internally, out of turmoil. Credit Bynum.

I don't want to sell Mitch short though, his ultra conservatism and lack of creative moves ultimately paid off due to favorable opportunities.

On the other hand, Ainge inherited a crappy siutation, but immediately got rid of Antoine Walker, drafted Al Jefferson, and was extremely proactive with trades and signings to assemble a championship roster in just a couple years. That's incredible.

Was he lucky with KG as Mitch was with Pau? I don't think so. I think everybody knew it was a matter of time before KG was traded, nearly the entire league wanted and expected it to happen, and credit Ainge for having the right pieces, centered around Al Jefferson and Ryan Gomes.

On the other hand, aside from Kobe and Bynum, who was made nearly untouchable, nobody wanted anybody on our roster. "Credit" Mitch for accumulating so many assets.

I think it comes down to who had a more active hand in engineering the success of the team.

I think Ainge clearly wins.

i could care less, but if i did i would say that the huge turn around would not be as huge if the Celtics had not been so injured last season. i would give it Mitch on the basis that he made a team that will contend for the next 5 years and reshaped the western conference in the process.......wait my bad that was Chris Wallace.

who cares... when the season is over we'll have what they want and im sure Kupchak would rather have that than a stupid exec trophy

Biggest turn around in NBA history. And it's not everyday you get an allstar for a High school bust. I believe the Lakers were very fortunate to land pau.

^^High school bust? I don't think Green mattered much once they got Al Jefferson.

What's wrong with Aigne winning it? He was clearly the most deserving IMO.

The only thing Mitch got us was Ariza.

Fisher was already a given and Pau was a fluke. Mitch even said that if Bynum hadn't been injured, he wouldn't have pursued a Gasol trade.

Mitch is overrated and still an idiot.

I thought Mitch would get it for sure. The best moves he made are the players he DIDN'T TRADE. His patience with Bynum and the way he handled the Kobe situation are things you dont see in the stat sheet as far as GMs go. Hopefully he gets it next season.

both deserved it, ainge probably more so because of the greater turnaround

i hope this is the only title won by the Celtics this year.

the award is for a single season accomplishment so mitch prolly won't win it next year as well. i agree with you're thoughts on mitch. the lakers are contending and their future looks bright because mitch hasn't made moves based on knee jerk reactions. it's also been based on the maturing process of guys like bynum, ronny, farmar and sasha. ainge had a whirlwind year where they gutted the team and with the help of an exteammate..........voila.

mitch didn't trade bynum & odom for $.50 on the dollar after kobe's outcry. mitch didn't trade kobe when the owner was giving the ok.

i'm thankful that mitch has the lakers where they are instead of me watching another first round exit with:

next season without a move being made

odom
kobe
fish

and lots of young guys getting better.


so kudos to ainge but i'd rather be in the situation the lakers are in
