I don't know where Artest would play. Would he mind coming off the bench? Would Lamar mind coming off the bench? The team is already deep as it is; If they could package Walton/Rad+ a valuable player like Farmar and get a big expiring, then it may work out. I still highly doubt it though. But still:

Fisher/Sasha
Kobe/Ariza
Artest/Ariza
Odom/Bynum
Gasol/Bynum

I don't see that working because you got a legit starter and future all-star in Bynum coming off the bench, but, omg, omg, omg; that would be a nasty team.

Every team has to make a pick in the first round at least once every two years. They next available 1st round pick for the Lakers to trade away is the 2012 pick since 2008 and 2010 are with the griz.

I'd have to think that if we obtained Artest for MLE then we wouldn't bother resigning Ariza, and I'd be perfectly fine with that assuming that Artest realizes his role in our system. He would be here to defend primarily, so his offensive role would have to be limited (as in, 3rd or 4th option).

I personally don't have any problem with Bynum coming off the bench. He'll still get minutes, and he'll dominate 2nd unit centers. Our bench would be absolutely incredible, and it gives us the flexibility of giving Pau some minutes at PF to rest Odom.

Fisher/Farmar
Kobe/Sasha
Pau/Bynum
Artest/Walton/Radman
Odom/Pau/Turiaf

We'd have so much depth it wouldn't even be funny, and more importantly, we wouldn't have to play our guys 38-40 minutes a game, which is only going to extend the life of our up-and-coming dynasty. ;)

Edit: n/m... Ariza is signed through next season.

This is very odd to come out now. We're about to start in the western confrence championship. It doesnt really make much sense for the kings. Honestly the only way i see him coming is through the mle. And even that would be a long shot. But im focused on what we can do now. Plus Ariza is a cheap younger version of our own artest so..

Ariza (expiring + actual good player) + 2012 1st rounder and 2008 2nd rounder for Artest (MLE)

DO IT MITCH

OR we could send

Vlad Rad
Ariza (exp)
Mihm (exp)
2012 1st
2008 2nd

FOR

Artest (MLE)
Thomas

Radman is less garbage than Thomas so Kings win a little more here..

Just a guess but Sac probably wants nothing to do with the Lakers that does not include Bynum.

Now in an opt out situation, I'd let PsychoRon take the MLE and take Coby Karl's roster slot.

Actually GP signed with us for the entire MLE at $5.4 that summer and Karl Malone took the LLE at $1.2
