Celts Tony Allen doubtful for finals

Post#1 » by CX44 » Mon Jun 2, 2008 9:46 pm

Hate to see injuries but nice break for the Lakers. Looks like Pierce or Posey will have to guard Kobe when Allen is not in the game. No way they put Eddie House on Kobe.

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers says Tony Allen might not be back from an injury to guard Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant when the NBA Finals begin Thursday night.

I would think Allen would try to go at it. No way Ray Allen can keep up, I think really Posey is their best chance @ slowing Kobe. Just where would a double team come from? if it's coming from KG, his man (Gasol or Odom) has to attack the rim. No weak sauce from Gasol anymore.... He has to bring it with authority or Celtics will be able to recover on defense. See Cleaveland series w/ Illgauskas

From what I remember, he's a very tough defender.

He played pretty solid defense on Kobe the last time we met and I'm glad they are one player shorter. Contrary to popular belief, they have a better bench than us and we need to be glad that Doc Rivers still hasn't realized it and is playing an 8 man rotation.

Allen is DONE for the series. When the injury is to your Achilles tendon do you think your going to recover in just a matter of days ?

Some of the dumb a$$ Celtic fans think so.

This quote was from Coach Rivers

"It doesn't look good," Rivers said after practice on Monday. "He couldn't get through even the walkthrough portion."

Nuff said...................Allen is done.

Who are we kidding? He wouldn't have played anyway. Posey will be on Kobe.

Not to burst your bubble or anything, tonymontana, but what you thought that I wrote was actually written by the associated press and was on ESPN. I even put a link in there.

But if you missed it, here you go again:

Coach Doc Rivers said Allen was only supposed to go through the first part of practice on Tuesday, but he was jumping and dunking.

Allen had some success guarding Lakers star Kobe Bryant in the regular season, holding the NBA MVP to 22 points on 6-for-25 shooting.

Allen missed the last two games of the Eastern Conference finals against Detroit after straining his right Achilles tendon in practice. He did not make it through the walkthrough on Monday, when the Celtics returned to practice.

Allen said massages have helped his leg feel better.
