VERY OT - The New 3G Iphone

Ok I know this has nothing to do with basketball let alone the Lakers but I figure while we eagerly await the biggest game since 2004, I wanted to get some people's opinion on this new device.
I have been debating about the first Iphone ever since it came out and now that Apple is launching the version 2 that is half the price seems like it will give the blackberry a run for their money.
Just wanted to see if there are any good IT or gadget people that can help me decide if it is worth it. Since it is cheaper and supposedly better, I wonder how hard it will be to even secure one as I am sure the line will be ridiculously long starting July 11th.

iPhone looks so sexy, and the new 3G is supposed to be even thinner appearing than the old one. I'm currently stuck with the Treo... I'd get the iPhone in a heartbeat but it doesn't support the programs that I need to use on my Palm.

i have the iphone and I'm bummed they released the new one since I think I paid $500 for mine about 6 months ago.
If I could start over I'd buy this one for $200. I heard it has the GPS, it's thinner and probably doesn't have all the same glitches as the one I have now. things I dislike about the one I have:
1) worst part: I can't send CC on text messages so if I need to text multiple people at the same time, I have to do that individually (if anyone knows a solution, let me know)
2) sometimes it won't turn on...this can be inconvenient.
3) internet can be a little slow
4) i don't get whatever that feature is that does statracker in fantasy sports..ActiveX i think it's called
however, it's a great phone, and if I could get the new one for $200 I would. I may try to trade mine
sorry for the rant. go lakers!

Cool. I'll be happy to stand in line for you and get you one on July 11th so you don't have to wait in line. EE, just PM me your credit card number and if you happen to see that your credit card bill got charged twice, don't dispute it. Just pay it anyway, everything will be fine.

If you have the original iPhone you will be able to update the OS on yours so it has all of the features of the new iPhone. Including GPS and MS Exchange functionality.
The new iPhone is slightly thinner than the original iPhone.
The new iPhone has a plastic backing as opposed to the stainless steel silver on the original.
The new iPhone comes in 8GB and 16 GB models and if you pony up $299.99 for the 16 GB you get the option of White or Black
The iPhone as of today has well over 100 apps you can download and more than 300 are slated to be available by the July rollout date of the new iPhone.
3G is great but kills battery life and
There are also some really cool game developers porting over very popular games to be run on the iPhone, supposedly with the hopes of competing with the DS and PSP
My two cents

Eckoner,
I was going to buy one -- but I waited for the update. Can you hook me up on July 11?
If so, put me on the wait list.
