How can you stand Kobe

I made the subject title a little strong becuase I wanted people to read this read becuase I really want to understand what LA fans think of Kobe. He is clearly the best player in the world and he is obviously the leader of your team so I can understand why you guys praise him. However, I have never seen a player complain about more calls and yell at more teammates than Kobe. The guy gets every foul call but he wants even more. He lets the refs hear it every time he screws up or a foul is called on him. Like after Posey cleany stripped him last nite and he got hit with a T and in the fourth where he smacked Pierce on both arms then he rapped his right arm around Pierce's shoulder; after complaining about that one, Salvatore finally yelled back at him. He's such a great player so I just don't understand why he has to worry about the officials so much.

I'm also tired of hearing of what a great leader Kobe is. He wasn't a good leader up until the team acquired Gasol and became good again. It's easy for someone like Kobe to act like a leader when his team is playing well. but a true leader trusts his teammates and supports them no matter the circumstances of the team. Case and point: Kobe asked to be traded- some leader he was. The team got Gasol and now he wants to be a Laker forever.

Because he leads by example and is the hardest working player in the NBA, without question. At least you'll never see him fake an injury to get attention.

We can "stand" Kobe because he plays for our favorite team, the Lakers, if he played for another team most of us would show him the same disdain that we have for other players like Pierce, Wade, Nash, etc. Duh!

i can stand kobe because he is what every young basketball player should strive to be. I don't care about his arrogance on and off the court. You need that. Thats being competitive and having confidence. He has the best work ethic in the NBA and is TRULY dedicated to the game of basketball. Its his passion for the game that i love. He does whine about calls but thats in the heat of the moment so we can let that slide. I bet he probably dropped 50 on your team so you dislike him.

if he got every call there would be no need to complain

lakers were the number one team in the west before they got gasol and were at full health, nice to know you have your facts straight though.

nice to kno I'm dealing with a bunch of LA homers that know nothing about basketball.

Nice to know I'm dealing with a ballboy that knows nothing about the RGM rules. Warning issued for trolling the Lakers board.

Your "subject title", and your post is gonna get this thread locked. You don't come on to another teams board and say "How can you stand [team's best player]?" and then spout off reasons not to like him.

celticpride50 wrote:The guy gets every foul call but he wants even more. He lets the refs hear it every time he screws up or a foul is called on him.

I counted atleast four times where he was pretty clearly fouled last night and didn't get a call (when he was driving to the hoop).

Also, did you watch the last game? Did you see how many missed calls that were missed on Kobe? I counted three absolutely blatant ones (i.e holding onto his arm).

"gets every foul call he wants"

celticpride50 wrote:Like after Posey cleany stripped him last nite and he got hit with a T

Arguable.

celticpride50 wrote: and in the fourth where he smacked Pierce on both arms then he rapped his right arm around Pierce's shoulder; after complaining about that one, Salvatore finally yelled back at him. Yeah, that was a clear foul on him.. Stupid to argue that.

You notice how Kendrick Perkins whines incessantly everytime he gets called for a foul no matter how blatant it is, too, btw? Pierce does it too. What about Garnett's first foul? It was a pretty damn clear foul similar to Kobe's but he complained pretty heavily abotu it.

celticpride50 wrote:He wasn't a good leader up until the team acquired Gasol and became good again.

Nope. Kobe was actually a good leader all season long, before Gasol came.

celticpride50 wrote:Okay I understand that he's on your team so you like him but don't you ever get fed up with him?

Sure, his complaining to the refs is sometimes pretty annoying, but don't you get fed up with some of your teams players' antics (i.e Pierce/Perkins/Garnett)?

Yes, but not for complaining to the officials. Shooting too much, sure, but all the stuff you listed is crap that I don't even notice 98% of the time. So he complains; how many superstars don't? So he gets on his teammates; he should, he's the team leader.

I could ask the same kind of questions about Pierce's ridiculous flopping or Garnett's pseudo-tough guy act or Kurt Schilling being such an insufferably smug bastard or Bill Belichick being a serial cheater, but I won't, because I know it's stupid.

As long as they wear your jersey and represent your team, you invariably pull for them, regardless. (Unless they're Vladimir Radmanovic. Then you pull for them to get traded or die in a surfing accident.)

I don't know how I can get fed up with a guy who constantly wins us games, dominates other teams, wins the NBA MVP, and leads our team to the NBA finals. But, hey, thats just me.

As a non Laker fan even I think you're an removed insult. You go to another team's forum and ask why they can deal with Kobe. And then get all upset because they are mad at such a question?

Why do you like Bill Belchick? Or Larry Bird? etc.

People can like whoever they damn well want I like Kobe because I can. Its called free will and I think he's the best in the game and the only interesting thing about the NBA at this point in time. Everyone else bores me in comparison.

I grew up near Chicago and I hated Jordan but folks were at least smart enough to not question me about it.

Don't feed the troll, please.
