NBA Draft '08, Rose is a sure thing NOW

They did the official weigh in's for the draft camp. Did you guys see this? This always pisses me off, because of the college's fudging the height and weights, then they get the official weigh ins at the draft camps and they are way off...anyway...

Derrick Rose listed at 6' 4", actually weighed in at 6' 2.5", not the end of the world

Now for the hilarious one...Michael Beasley listed at 6'10", actually weighed in at 6'7". 6'7" LOL! PF that can play C in small lineups, is now strictly a SF.

How in the heck is there even a decision after you see that on top of his lax draft camp workouts and his cocky attitude?

NOW IMO I'd put OJ Mayo @ #2, and Kevin Love #3. Haven't decided where I'd put Beasley after this news, but not the top 3. No one seems to agree with me in these mocks, but I kinda like it that way.

 Go Lakers!

beasley is still top 2. he is a great rebounder for his height and he reminds me of marion in a lot of ways with a more post presence offensively than a ugly looking outside shooter and dunker. beasley can also become a great defender with his frame if he is coached on defense properly and follows up on marion if he goes to the heat. 6'7" is a great height for versatility that can play multiple positions and with marion he will easily find his nitch as a SF defensively and PF offensively as marion is not really a PF in the offense, but being older and stronger can gaurd PFs as he did with the suns.

QUESTION: How tall is Boozer? Beasley and Boozer look like the same size to me ... a solid 6'8 and change with tape, shoes and socks. Also, you have to factor in his wingspan. Elton Brand is a hair over 6'8 with tape, socks and shoes like Beasley and Boozer but has a wicked 7'4 wingspan.

All good points. You could be right, but Beasley doesn't have much of an outside game right? I only saw him play a few games. The couple of games I saw he didn't. If he doesn't we are looking at what a 6' 7" Lamar Odom?

As far as Love, I can't remember being this impressed with a player. No he's not uber athletic, he can't jump out of the gym, doesn't have great speed or quickness, but damn he does everything else near a 10 out of 10 clip. On top of that he is a great teammate, a tireless worker, great charisma, he gets it, heady player, and has already dropped 20#, outlets like DRod.

I'm a Duke fan, but since I live in So Cal UCLA is usually a strong team so I watched them and kinda jumped on their bandwagon a bit once Duke got pawned, If Shipp wasn't such a bizarre tank job I think they would have won it all; they desperatley missed his scoring on the drive and his 3 bombs both MIA in the tourney.

Beasley is a very good outside shooter and practically everyone is listed an inch and a half taller than what they really are b/c of tape, sox and shoes ... mostly everyone is given at least an inch.

If Rose measured 6'2.5, he'll probably be listed at 6'4. Everyone says that Barkley was 6'4, no, really 6'4.5 barefooted but listed at 6'6. Trust me Barkley is the same size as Jordan, he is not the same height as Byron Scott who is 6'4.

If Beasley measured 6'7 he'll be listed at 6'8 or 6'9 (an obvious embellishment). Even at 6'8 Beasley will be a beast as long as he can learn position defense and possibly play next to a very defensive, long, shot blocking center, like Tyson Chandler does with a 6'8 David West.

If Mourning can play 24 minutes as a starting center next to Beasley, Miami will be very good. Also, if Noah can prove to be somewhat of a defensive force Chicago would be in a good position. Chicago will have to trim the fat if they draft Rose (bye bye Hinrich--great fit in Denver ... for Nene maybe?) or if they draft Beasley (bye bye Gooden, and Tyrus Thomas). Either way Chicago will need a big who can play center. I think they'll go with Rose because even though Hinrich had an awful season he'll be easier to trade for a big than Tyrus Thomas and Drew Gooden.

I don't really see what the big deal is. A player is measured by his production and heart, but I can't disagree with taking Rose first. A great PG will give a team a more immediate impact.
Beasley has got to be 2nd pick tho.

Michael Beasley measured at 6-7 without shoes, and 6-8 ¼ with. His wingspan in 7-0 ¼ and his standing reach is 8-11. weight 240
Brand measured 6’8 ¼” without shoes, 6’9 ½” with shoes and with a 7’5 ½” wingspan, and 9’2” standing reach. weight 254

check out this draftexpress article.

Oh, and loves #'s
Kevin Love measured at—6-9 ½ in shoes (6-7 ¾ without), with a 6-11 ¼ wingspan and an 8-10 standing reach. weight 255

Beasley did call himself a midget in interviews with the Chicago media.

it is expected that heights are inflated by universities, but Beasley's measurements were a surprise.

It does seem very likely that Rose will be the pick.

Another trend: Paxson's top draft picks - Hinrich, Gordon, Deng, Tyrus Thomas, Noah - all share a common characteristic. All made the Final Four just months before the draft.

Rose would continue that trend

Well... here's Beasley standing next to Vinnie Del Negro today. Vinnie was a PG/SG in the NBA... Beasley projected as a PF. That size really makes me wonder how effective he will be in the post.
