"We Need Toughness" = RON ARTEST

Post#1 » by xSABOx » Wed Jun 18, 2008 4:28 am

When asked what was needed to address this off-season was some more toughness... Get me the modern day Dennis Rodman that was the difference for the Bulls being bounced in the conference finals to a three-peat...Ron Artest for the FULL MLE...Trade Radmanovic for Dan Gadzuric for the physical bigman that we severely missed...Let Turiaf, Mihm and Vujacic walk...Sign Jacque Vaughn for the minimum...

Fisher/Farmar/Vaughn
Kobe/Ariza
Artest/Walton/Yue
Pau/Odom
Bynum/Gadzuric

somebody come through with a photoshop of Artest in LA uniform please...

I agree about Artest, we need him, as well as a new defensive coach. Turiaf and the machine should stay.

We need toughness and we need defense -- Ron Artest is just what the doctor ordered.

You guys say Artest is the answer. I ask you guys what will happen to Odom, and Vlad? I don't think the NBA turned into the NFL you can't just waive players you don't like if you bring in Artest there is no way in hell Odom is coming off the bench and Vlad makes to much money and is to talented to be the new MIhm. I don't mention Walton because he isn't going anywhere you guys just have to deal with that.

If Garbajosa can recuperate to 80% of what he was with the Raptors then you should sign him straight away for vets min. He is exactly the type of tough veteran the Lakers need. He would do wonders to push Gasol.

Oh and please for God sakes get rid of Radmanovic.

odom could easily win next year 6MOY

he has been leading and chaperoning the lakers 2nd unit for at least 5 months now

not to mention hed instantly make our frontline rotation that much sweeter knowing he could fill in at PF/SF and allow gasol to backup C when bynum's resting

There is no way Odom comes off the bench he has a tough enough time getting into the game's flow starting games how does he find a flow coming off the bench.

I don't know if Artest is the answer, but our team does need some more toughness. I''m not entirely sure it's all physical though. Bynum would help with the physicality, that's for sure.

But really, Mental toughness, the lack of, did us in. The Celtics were all locked in and aggressive - all series. We weren't. Too many players soft in the mind.

I'm not going to sell Odom short though, he did a damn good job neutralizing Perkins all series. Odom was game. He just didn't have enough of it.

Get Artest. Artest is not going to be a head case on the Lakers especially with Phil and Kobe. Also, Artest gives us someone else who can create off the dribble, especially when Kobe is not in, or when Kobe is struggling; the Lakers offence in the playoffs became way to dependent on Kobe dribbling the ball around going nowhere, and running off screens; getting doubled ext. And, just imagine Kobe and Artest as our wing defenders (I am getting hard thinking of it, no homo), with Bynum and Gasol protecting the paint; the Lakers would be an explosive offensive team, with an amazing defence. DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!

O and get lamar off this team. Not a smart player

i dont even think we have to trade for artest

he was spotted in LA and Boston

and unless he's angling to sign with the celtics, i think it looks like we're gonna sign him

Ron would be amazing on this team. I'd push the entire MLE for this guy. Anything to rid this team of that worthless piece of crap named Vladimir Radmanovic. Ron wouldn't mind coming off the bench. We'd be able to package VladRad & Luke Walton along with something else (Farmar?) to pick up Mike Miller as well....

PG - Fisher/Farmar/Vujacic
SG - Bryant/Miller/Karl
SF - Odom/Artest/Ariza
PF - Gasol/Turiaf/FA
C - Bynum/Mihm/Mbenga

That would be a pretty nice lineup.

Asked why he made a cross-country trip from Sacramento to watch Game 6, Artest said he "came to see Kobe and Lamar," referring to the Lakers' Kobe Bryant and Lamar Odom.

Artest described fellow Queens native Odom as a "longtime friend and idol of mine."

"I've known him since I was like 9 years old," Artest said.
