James Jones

Post#1 » by sp18614 » Wed Jul 2, 2008 6:01 pm

I don't understand why we would even be entertaining the idea of re-signing Sasha. I believe he played well because it was a contract year. I don't understand why we would be targeting Brent Barry. Dude is just old. Everyone has been clammoring for either Posey or Artest. Well there is another free agent out there. We could easily get for the MLE and would fit our team. He is a deadly 3 point shooter, long arms, can block shots. Perfect for the Triangle offense.

James Jones would be perfect for this team. I posted earlier but it got locked. I would love to hear what everyones opinion is. We don't have to make a trade. So I don't understand why this would be in a trade thread. Maybe I dind't propose this correctly.

I would love to unload Vlad &/or Walton. Or if we make a trade for Artest how about signing Jones to be his back-up.

http://hoopshype.com/players/james_jones.htm

Just as the Kings did in February, they are expected to entertain trade offers for Artest and take advantage of his rising value. The Lakers are a near certain possibility for talks this summer, with a long list of contending teams needing a piece such as Artest behind them. -- Sac Bee

The Lakers continue to wait for Sasha Vujacic and Ronny Turiaf, but they have fall-back plans in case their restricted free agents don't re-sign with them. The Lakers have talked with representatives of Boston small forward James Posey and veteran San Antonio sharpshooter Brent Barry to gauge the free agents' interest. -- LA Times

If the Lakers did trade for Artest I would seriously like us to look into Jones. Possible line up:

Fish/Farmar/Crawfor
Kobe/Ariza
Artest/Jones/Walton
Pau/Vlad/Mihm
Bynum/Mihm

I remember him from phoenix, and from what I remember, there is a reason they didn't want him and no one else is talking about him, especially for the MLE if we could get Posey or Maggette with it...

thats a strange lineup
ariza isn't a shooting guard is he
and mihm backing up pf and center
so pau is basically our only good pf, and kobe the only true sg?
seems like a lot of holes in depth

Oh, and there is a reason the thread got locked I think... I'm sure that doesn't mean post it again.

And to avoid a back seat modding only post, I agree w/ hermes

Yes, another James Jones thread.

Hopefully this one stays open for a bit, because I personally love the thought of adding another non-starting, no-defense-playing, no-passing, one-dimensional spot-up shooter to eat up even more cap space. Considering how well an identical model, Vladimir Radmanovic, has worked out, I don't see how we can pass up the chance to add another.

Overpaid and redundant, FTW!!!!

I really haven't seen him play much. I remember him with the Suns of course he has a pretty three he hits consistantly, does he do much else? Can he play D? Can he drive? Can he get his own shot?

No, no and no.

In other words, he's no different than Radmanovic.

James Jones got traded from Phoenix because Sarver gets a boner everytime he hears cash consideration. He's a decent SF that the Lakers can definitely go after.

If we can find a taker for Vlad, I'd have no problem giving part of the MLE to James Jones. Possibily sign:

Shaun Livingston: 2 years/4 million
James Jones: 3 years/12 million
