Lakers forward-center Ronny Turiaf agreed to a four-year, $17 million offer from the Golden State Warriors, according to two league sources.

Turiaf is a restricted free agent. The Lakers have seven days to match the Warriors' offer.

Turiaf's agent, Mark Bartelstein would neither confirm nor deny the offer from the Warriors.

loyalty going to the dumps this offseason. i think this marks the end of ronny's days with the lakers. his diminshing role with the team even with an injured bynum should make the price way too high for LA to match.

I love Ronny, but I have this feeling that the FO won't match.

Peace the F out....I am glad he's gone. I'd much rather the Lakers sign Kurt Thomas for that kind of money.

However, if Mbenga or Mihm becomes Turiaf's replacement, I'll become really pissed.

If Kwame becomes Turiaf's replacement on a cheap contract, I'd be indifferent.

GSW sure likes to screw themselves with their signing. They are going to overpay Maggette, and now this. Dub fans can deny it all they want, but Ellis becoming pissed at management may become a reality at this rate. I can somewhat understand getting Maggette and Turiaf, but the money they are throwing at them is ridiculous. Did Turiaf have any break out game against the Ws?

I think losing him will hurt the Lakers.
He is all about hustle and agressiveness, qualties the Lakers desperately need. Without him, they become even a softer team.

That said, 4 yrs at $17 mil is pretty big $ for him What is GSW thinking?

They'll match it. They want to keep this team together, and France is a big market. Buss won't care about paying a little extra to be in the race every year. I think Turiaf is a big component to the morale of this team and that makes him more important than what his stats and on-court contribution show. However, I wouldn't be crushed if he left, as long as they replace him with equal or better energy for less money. If they can't, they must match GSW's offer. Kupchak can't risk making this team worse than it was last year.

I'd hate to see him go, but if we match, he's going to be overpaid unless he steps up next season.

The Warriors FO has started acting crazy ever since Baron opted out and they lost out on Brand but this is seriously overpaying for a guy that stinked in the playoffs. I'd rather pay that money to Kurt Thomas and I have a feeling Mitch feels the same too.

We could always teach some moves to DJ to fill the cheer leader's role.

He's better than Luke Walton. All you guys who love this dude proclaiming that he was the second most valuable player on this squad are crazy. This deal is much better than Walton's deal. Why because you never sign players who do not have value across the league. Luke has and never had any real value (Radman as well). Turiaf has value. If the Lakers match this offer they can trade him later a lot easier than trading Walton. Turiaf has discernible skill that can be translated on the floor. He is not a lliability.

That being said, I am obviously bitter over the fact that because of the presence of Walton and Radmanovic we will lose much more valuable players in Turiaf and Vujacic.

Do I match GSW? Yeah ... but that means bye bye Vujacic.

given a choice between sasha or ronny, i think its pretty clear who would be the number one target.

going back to the exit meetings where ronny said he wanted to be back but wasn't sure if the lakers felt the same, seems like the lakers aren't going to match. they probably told him to go get himself a contract because he most likely wasn't going to get it from them. considering that, no surprise he jumped at a deal in the first few hours of free agency.

Don't forget, the Lakers match, they pay double (luxury tax).

This is the flipside of getting Gasol, but well worth it, no? I'm sure there will be some serviceable replacements coming in at the vet minimum or MLE, guys who are getting older and will sacrifice $$ for a chance at a ring. Just gotta hope they can stay healthy.

Well, I don't think he's better than Luke. Luke actually has a decent post up game and almost rebounds at a similar rate to Turiaf. The two things that Ronny had the edge are his defense, when he's not fouling much and shot blocking. He actually showed a decent mid range game in the season but that disappeared in the playoffs and what difference does his hustle make when he got constantly out hustled by the likes of Leon Powe, Millsap and Najera in the playoffs. He even had a poor series against Utah when expected him to do better due to their lack of front court defense.

Well, given a choice who'd you rather get? Alonzo Mourning or Ronny Turiaf?

Easy choice for me and comes at a cheaper price.

i'm not exactly sure what change you expect in ronny's game. isn't all those things u listed exactly whats been expected of him his entire career with the lakers? his rebounding is poor, his defense is foul prone, and his physical presence was no where to be seen when the lakers needed it the most (eventually turning to chris mihm). giving ronny the contract on the idea that he will eventually be worth it is foolish.

i hope you're wrong about sasha being too expensive but i don't think the lakers would let ronny walk and then not match any offer to sasha.

I DO think that Turiaf is no where near where he will be. He has the tools to be a very good rebounder and defender. He simply has to disregard his offense and focus completely on rebounding and defense. Your right he's not there yet, but I personally feel like he could grab 10 boards per when given 30 mins a game. Which means that in 15 mins he should be grabbing at least five boards. I think he legitimately has that potential. But hey that's me.

Turiaf doesn't have a long enough wing span and add that to his shorter frame for a PF, no way he grabs more than 7 RPG at best.

I actually envisioned him to learn to play defense without fouling and getting good points off put backs etc but the few points he's been able to get are by running the floor and being the beneficiary of a Kobe Braynt or Odom pass. I really don't see him developing an offensive skill set and he is what he looks like right now.

I disagree. If he were given really consistent minutes and IF (big if) he were to stay healthy he can grab 10 boards in 30 minutes. He just like to shoot and post a little too much for me. And I really don't see Turiaf having short arms. If anything they look very long. His long arms make him a very effective shotblocker.

i don't think you understand just how elite 10boards in 30 minutes is. turiaf was rebounding at a rate of 7.5 rebounds per 36 minutes. he's not just magically going to simply try harder and jump into superb reounder status.
