Bogut Signs 5 year 72.5 million dollar deal...

Post#1 » by km23 » Thu Jul 10, 2008 1:49 am

BOGUT gets 72.5, Bynum is cheap at 80. 80 or very close to it is guaranteed.

He was just 15 and 8 with the potential not even close to Bynum. If he gets 20/10 for any season the rest of his career, that'll be a miracle.

This actually makes it easy for Lakers to consider Bynum's extension.

Just wow ! That's incredible ! This is pure overpaying !

Bogut is good, but not worth 14, 15 M a year !

The Lakers shouldn't chance it. Sign Bynum now. I'd even argue that this makes Ronny seem cheap. Honestly he plays half the minutes as Bogut (a very random, scattered half) and he has a little less than half of his production. Big men aren't cheap these days...inflation much?

I thought it was a 5 year 60 mill. And up to 72.5 with certain incentives.

Okay so Diop is getting 30 M from the Mavs...is it time to match Ronny's offer? I mean Diop has a career average of 2.1/3.9/43%

I don't get you guys. So because some teams are overpaying the Lakers shouldn't think twice about a 80 mil extension? 5 year 60 mil is reasonable for a guy like him, though I'm not sure if 12 mil un-guarantee is warranted.

well those guys are thinking what were thinking of our players...we think bynum will be a great center...im pretty sure they think the same of bogut..

bogut put up 14 10 2..
bynum put up about the same

difference is...bogut only missed 4 games...bynum missed 45

one thing bynum got over bogut is hes younger with a lot more potential...they did overpay bogut...which is why we shouldnt do the same with bynum, unless we have to.

if bogut really got a 5year 60 mil...then bynum should be getting aroudn the same.

If the title holds true, that means Bogut nearly got Chris Paul-type money.

nah, not really. chris paul can make similar money in just 4 yrs, not 5.

I am kind of surprised with the amount of money considering he had a decent year. We should get on the wagon and offer the same to Bynum with more incentive clauses just so that we lock him in. it just seems like everyone is overpaying right now and it seems like everyone is desperate. i think brand deserved the money but maggette was off the top and turiaf as much as i like him as a laker is getting much more then i expected. But that doesnt mean i dont want him on this team, if we can somehow manage a trade with GS for Turiaf for Vlad or luke i will be fine with that. haha. Just get rid of some and still keep the guys we wanted, i guess more of a reverse sign and trade, but i doubt that will be possible till late december.

I would be very happy if Bynum signed for 5/60... Hell, I'd be happy to get Bynum for 5/72.5

What's to understand? How does it not affect the Lakers. The whole reason we haven't resigned Turiaf/Sasha yet is because the Lakers are allowing them to test the market in order to gauge their worth. Salaries like the one Bogut is getting is going to set the tone for what other big men will receive. It affects the entire market, especially when you get someone like Bogut who has nowhere near the franchise worth of someone like Bynum does.

People never read the full articles so everybody thinks it's a 5 year 72 million dollar deal but it's a 60 million dollar deal with bonus's.
If Bynum takes the same deal that would be great. If he takes the max it's what you got to expect.

Just because Bogut did sign an extension doesn't mean he will 'set the tone' for the market. Does Rashard's signing means any 3rd option in the league will get 18 mil a year?

Most just seem to continue to ignore this fact.

If Bogut continues to progress and is an allstar and Bucks make it to the postseason he will get 72mil. If he regresses or remains stagnant along with the team then he will get 60 mil. He is the best Center in the East outside of Dwight and anytime you can get a Center who can put up a double/double every night with 5 assists and a couple of block you have to keep him. The fact Milwaukee did so at only 12 mil a year while guys like Maggette are getting 10 mil a year and Brand 14 mil a year shows they underpaid if nothing else.
